India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reacted to the United States 'potential risk of sanction' warning after New Delhi signed a 10-year deal to run the Chabahar port with Iran on May 12. @@Nanobrker nobody care abt pakistan..it is the political position and manoeuvre with respect to kashmir that we r concerned of.. just cos someone says they are friends, doesn't exactly mean, you go down from your position and wait until they retract..A deal was done,lifeline given, now you wait..I see this same attitude towards others, be it saudi, qatar,ukrainians, russians,israelis,palestinians etc..not everyone is bhai-bhai and then when they hit back you have to get agitated..if you have experience negotiating with the iranians or the middle-east, you would know this..

The US and Russia were focused on becoming military superpowers, but neglected to establish effective control strategies after achieving this status. Meanwhile, China focused on trade and development, using these opportunities to establish key military bases worldwide. The US and European countries relied on their nuclear superiority to dominate globally. However, the rest of the world is no longer as submissive, and it’s only a matter of time before the US and Europe lose their credibility. India has chosen the right path for its own development. In the past when the US threatened sanctions on a country, that country fell on its knees and asked to be forgiven for even thinking of doing something that would displease the Americans. But times have changed. Russia and China have been sanctioned and are showing they’ve come out stronger because of the sanctions. Now, unlike before, countries that face US sanctions have alternatives to get around any barriers imposed on them.

1st. USA is _no one_ to tell India or any other sovereign country with whom they may or may not transact. NO COUNTRY IN THE GLOBE HAS THAT RIGHT - PERIOD. 2nd. By the time USA gets the message that Iran will move forward and no one cares about what USA says or its punishments, USA will need a partner that mediates between it and Iran. India would be in an enviable position to help USA, because India happens to be a good friend of USA, as it is a good friend of Russia and Iran. THAT'S WHAT BEING NEUTRAL MEANS. Now, if USA would control itself and could stand down its neocons, everyone would live happier and in peace.

A bully always understands the language of strength and power. Words don't matter much. Threats of sanctions must be met with threats of counter sanctions. Our diplomat EAM still responds in somewhat "softish" way. Waiting for those days when India will respond first in equal measure then in an asymmetric manner and then be proactive to counter such threats such that these bullies will have to think many times before giving threats again. The narrow view jibe seems to be related to Chinese Gwadar port. Whether there is Gwadar port or not who are they to dictate?

USA is angry that India was suppose to ask permission for such an important deal and course if apprval given it was to come with a set of conditions which India had to sign and obey. USA forgot that India is not the Panama Republic and has the largest population in the world ( just overtook China); Also, India is is one of the founders member of BRICS, which now has 12 full members soon to be 20 and later to reach 30 or more. In comparison with G7, it is already a bigger organisation. When they would be 20 members BRICS would have not at least anything near it from all points of view. Bullying and abusive behaviour are keeping even the best allies away.

Pakistan is taking fullest advantage of their geographical position to block india's road connections to Afghanistan , Russia and other countries in the region. Pakistan blocked pipeline for oil supply from the region. This is a big business loss to India and America is not taking note of injustice. Hence the bypassing Pakistan and taking advantage of good relations with the countries beyond Pakistan, chabahar port is the only solution and to avoid further tension in the region.
