Thanks for watching guys, we definitely ran a big risk not sticking to the traditional commentary, in all honestly we werent even trying to be funny, we were just being ourselves, for the few days leading up to this run, this is just the way we were speaking to each other. A few common questions or statements I see I can fill in the blanks here: No GDQ didn't ban any of us, some people really don't give GDQ enough props for what they do to the community, it's a shame. No, my run is not a sequel to bonesaws run because my run wasn't half an hour off the record No ubers or uber dribers were harmed in the making of this run
People say that the run was a spiritual successor to Bonesaw's Jak and Daxter run. The main reason is that the runner had fun, the couch had fun, audience had fun and viewers back at home had fun. Pretty much everybody had fun, just check the comments. Thats the main reason they are compared and clumped together, the runs were fun and entertaining.
This one's a classic. I've come back to it every year after watching it the day it was uploaded. Ricky and the couch really know how to keep people entertained.
How are Jak runs always so easily contenders for "Best run of the GDQ"? First Bonesaw's run of Jak 1 and now this? Best run of the event so far, laughed the whole way through!
The reason you're able to move the camera for desert vehicles like that is so that you can aim at marauders to your left and/or right when in vehicles with turrets, like the Slam Dozer, just in case anyone's curious.
Runner introduction starts at 0:02. Run starts at 1:06. KungFuFruitcup interviews TonesBalones at 57:15 Couch commentary provided by Xem92, Ruh, and OutrageousJosh AnEternalEnigma is the host.
This and Xem's run of UYA were my top 2 this year. I don't really care for any of the Jak games but when you have this kind of charismatic energy and good vibes it honestly doesn't matter what you're playing
When you guys said “Implying the moon landing happened” I was waiting for one of y’all to say “You believe in the moon?” The crowd would’ve absolutely lost it.
This is probably the funniest GDQ run of all time. The entire vibe of the couch is that of just a bunch of friends hanging out and having a good time. also I've never heard a moon landing referred to as an OOB before
Man i remember watching this last year and thinking this was the best couch ever. I find myself coming back to this video over a year later and i'm still laughing my butt off. You guys were the greatest!
this was the video that got me into speedrunning due to the absolute comedy genius when it first got uploaded. I'm rewatching it now since I started watching Tharixer's channel a few weeks ago. I am shocked that the runner for this video is tharixer. thank you for getting me into this interesting hobby
I was here mainly for the run but in the end i subbed to the whole couch crew and Ricky because there sense of humor is amazing and i love to laugh. Like damn, Josh said wow and Xem said you gotta stop i died laughing.
Gdq is crazy if they don't have this speedrunner/couch every year. Some games you don't need to talk about every little movement tech, sometimes it's better just to laugh your ass off. Sorry gdq I meant butt Edit: also you should you should have jhobz, spike, and xem do a speedrun together
49:30 I'd be willing to bet most of those effects are from floating point errors, due to having such large coordinates. A similar thing happens in Minecraft if you go too far from the centre of the map.
I figure that the glitchy movement when really far out of bounds is related to floating-point numbers-basically the layman's explanation is that they can only store a few significant digits. Say for example six digits, that would mean that once you get up to 10,000 you only have one decimal place, and at 1,000,000 you can only move in steps of 10, i.e. the next number "after" 1,000,000 is 1,000,010 (because 1,000,00X would require seven digits).
To anyone who wants another quality gdq run my personal favorite is heyzuesherestoast Bloodeborne run. There is actually 2 or 3 but the first is my favorite. Great great commentary. Super informational and hilarious at same time
Loved this run, easily my favorite from this year. As always an amazing event, so props to the GDQ staff for the best event of the year! I'll be eagerly waiting for SGDQ 2019.
