Fun fact: the mirror smash scene in Nightcrawler is why Jake has a wrap on his hand in this interview. The mirror smash was improvised by Jake and he cut his hand. I'm assuming he came fresh off the set of nightcrawler for this interview. My favorite actor.
I wouldn't call it fun but yes, it was very obvious in the scene that there are something underneath the acting. It was fascinating to watch. Just fascinating.
Would I be personally invested interviewing someone of the likes of Jake G? You bet. But am I going to be patient, well-kept and groomed with my questions or delivery? Not like this gal.
he said he had just finished Nightcrawler that morning. i can only imagine how tired he must be, still he's so true and earnest, humorous throughout the interview.
He's actually wearing exactly what he wore in the last scene of Nightcrawler. It was also the last scene that was filmed. No wonder he's still so much in character, he just wrapped hours ago. This is so amazing.
Jake Gyllenhaal is so humble and such a good actor. I belive its his time to shine and he truly deserve to win an Academy Award, since he is good at method acting and changing his persona on screen
P.S. Not only is HE good, but so is his sister, Maggie. Watch her first feature film, "Secretary," and you'll see the making of a great actress. Both incredible talents.
Seriously underrated actor. Hopefully he will continue making job choices that take him even deeper into more serious roles. Wonderful guy. More thoughtful, reflective and ethereal than I would have thought.
Underrated? JG ? Seriously? Does the use of the word gives may be a sense of being prepared on the argument? So many times used these days and sometimes without any reason that the result is just the opposite of being prepared. do yourself a favor and edit it.
it's so nice hearing Jake talking about donnie darko. i've never found an interview longer than 2 minutes of him talking about it, and it's such a brilliant film, i've always wondered what his deep and wonderful mind thought about the characters etc such a great interview too!
She asked him the same question about his start to his career later on during nocturnal animals. I feel like I'm watching the exact same interview deja vu
It's interesting to see how he didn't really shed off his character at that time... He still moved his lower lip in a weird way while talking like Lou Bloom..
This man keeps impressing me more and more.. He is such a great actor and person and in a way (you know cause i am like half his age and i haven't accomplished anything in life) I am really proud! Also this interview is great! He seemed very comfortable and he has a great style of humor
this might be my favourite interview from him? he's so charming and it's such a pleasure to listen to what he has to say here... also, jenelle riley is a great interviewer.
This is incredible and so very insightful. I think this is so important for other actors to learn from because he really brakes down the process of the art.
She is such a great interviewer- relaxed, wants to be there, great questions & seems interested in the person she's interviewing (check out the Joel Edgerton interview on here) She's great!
He has his hand injured..that's from the glass he broke in the Nightcrawler..isnt it ? This must have been shot while he is in recording session of the nightcrawler..
Carcosa If all this is true, then I wonder ..if he "just" ended recordings, and the mirror crash scene was done last (up to a week ago), then he has gained still some weight pretty fast...he was 15 kgs down...but he is at the moment of this interview again say 8 kgs back ?
"They wanted me to have a life that was not inside a bubble" Okay but Jake, that's very ironic because I very clearly remember watching you grow up inside a bubble in Bubble Boy..
I thought Jake was a lightweight... until I caught him in 'Crawler. He was RIVETING. Scary-good. I take back everything I thought about him, with interest.
Great interviewer, great guest, WTF did you not pay someone who knew what they were doing to do the sound? It's not just this interview. It's all of the SAG videos. There's feedback through the whole damn thing.
how can i contact J.G. I love him so much ... his movies he is so awesome i cant find another word i love him my name is Haya a 27 girl from Palestine i wish i could meet him one day and to be his friend at least i really like his personality and i wish just to talk to him one day
He is here as eloquent and insightful as he always is. A truly talented thespian. But I really don't know why he's always saying his name means a hard rock..? :D "Gyllen" means golden, The prefix Gyllen was the one most used when ennobling someone in the 16th century Sweden. The last part "Haal" comes from the name of the farm estate "Hahlegården", where the first Gyllenhaal was originally from.
I was mad at him after the whole thing with Taylor Swift lol but this interview made me love him again!!! That piece of hair though...driving me crazy!
