They really had me going. All my instincts were telling me that Mysterio was gonna betray Peter and become the villain, but but the time I saw the movie, I was really pretty convinced that they were going 100% for a multiverse alternate version of the character. I didn't realize the truth until Peter tried to give him the glasses and he said no; that's when I knew they were what he wanted all along. So I figured it out, about 30 seconds before the movie just revealed it to us. That's pretty successful and skillful marketing in my view, but maybe I'm just an idiot and everyone else figured it out way before I did lmao

@@SRosenberg203 I kept lightly doubting he was a hero the whole time, but I thought it was just in my head - when the twist came. MAN, that was so dirty, so tricky! So... "Mysterio" of em! Really did the character justice in my eyes

@@midnightsoup333 My whole theater absolutely flipped their shit too, when JK Simmons appeared. I didn't even hear any of what he was saying (It's pretty easy to guess though, "Spider-Man is a menace!") because everyone was cheering so loud, myself included. That by itself is enough to put this movie solidly in the top 3 of Spider-Man films lmao

It’s funny cause he was supposed to take over from tobey when he suffered an injury back in the day as he was in the running against tobey before Spider-Man 1. So it’s neat how it came full circle with him being in a Spider-Man film and I loved him as mysterio

Prince of Persia was a great movie. The real weak point of the movie was that bad hair weave that they put on poor Jake. But he was talented (and handsome) enough to overcome that weasel fur that was attached to his head.

That’s actually the only other Jake Gyllenhaal movie I’ve seen, and I absolutely love it. He’s amazing in it. My sisters and I rewatch it like every year

There's a possibility that he might return since Mysterio in the MCU is also made by the team behind him, they could just use his image again and then Jake can play that

Yeah that's a really good point. I enjoy it when somebody like Benedict Cumberbatch - who never really paid attention to comics - diving head first into the Death of Magic to understand his character. Its cool to see these people discover those comics

@My name is Steve Rogers It wasn't a surprise, what they ended up doing with Mysterio, because that's his entire character personality. However the marketing campaign was done so skillfully, they really had me believing their "new take" on the character for a significant chunk f the movie, despite everything I know about Mysterio. They played this one really well, I think.
