Just watched it for the first time and was blubbering so much I came to RU-vid for closure and this has helped. The most brilliant love story I've ever watched
How is Jack Twist a supporting character in Brokeback Mountain? Ridiculous. Both Jack and Ennis have their own equal roles both in the relationship and in the film in general. Ennis was the one who was more scared and essentially tried to fight the relationship, whilst Jack was the more courageous one who fought for the relationship. Both men have an equally sad ending, as one passes away without ever having fulfilled his love (and possibly under horrifying circumstances) and the other is left all alone with heavy sadness and possibly a deep sense of regret. I really do not understand the need to pronounce one of the characters a protagonist and the other a supporting character. Both Heath and Jake did an incredible job. The film is heart-wrenchingly beautiful and you feel for both characters very deeply.
Sometimes they divide this way because they know that both actors have a great possibilty of wining the award so for they don't lose this chance one of them have to be put as supporting role. I agree with you but I guess for them doesn't matter if is a leading role or supporting. If they can win is all that matter, and the reaction of Jake shows it cuz he got really excited. I'm sorry for my english I'm not the greatest writer I'm still learning. I'm better at speaking haha
Yes, I suppose you're right. I just thought it was very unfair, because Jake's role was just as big as Heath's and he played it just as well. Both were brilliant. But you're right, thankfully there was no rivalry between them and each was happy for the other's success. Your English is great, by the way!
Heather did flaw in the scene where he starts crying while discussing their relationship with one another. I mean, it could be that Heath was trying to portray a lonesome, tough, "I've been through everything," "I don't cry," type of Ennis. An Ennis that never really experienced an emotional breakdown, and thus made it look like he was doing something alienated. It's just a weird scene for me, especially the crying in that particular scene(see, the one in the beginning, when he's crouching, hitting the wall, I don't mind it at all - it fits well), but other than that, I think he did portray the character well.
Because the story is told in Ennis' perspective so he'll be the lead and Jack will be the support. If Jack is a female then she can be a lead actress but since both of them are male then only 1 will be lead. There's no real lead actress in Brokeback Mountain as both Michelle and Anne are supporting roles.
I think the producers decided to submit Heath for leading because it’s his story more than Jack’s. It’s funny because Jake actually had more lines of dialogue
Jake is the most awkward person on the planet and I love him so much. He nearly went to kiss Heath, my heart exploded, it would have been epic. And Heath deserved better. He deserves to still be alive. I miss him so much, everytime I watch Brokeback Mountain or Batman it hurts so much. He deserved so much better. RIP Heath Ledger. Always in our hearts 💖💖💖
Eleni Triadi it will happen soon honey. He is so incredible in all of his movies . Especially night crawler and Southpaw. He is the most dedicated live actor now. He put his all onto his roles. I believe his time will come soon to be the oscar winner.
Jake Gyllenhaal is the next Leo DiCaprio of Oscars. Yes he will win an Oscar, he will be amazing and talented in that movie too.... but maybe not for the right role. I mean, he missed nomination for Nightcrawler, southpaw, got snubbed for BBM (wtf!).... Leo was far better in his other roles than he was in Revenant.
he was really surprised, heath was so proud and happy for him. best buds! its probably because of the death of his best friend or maybe just the age, but nowadays you kinda never see him smiling on the red carpet. its like hes another person since heaths death.
"I kind of wanted to go heyyyyyy"....Could this guy be any more awesome! Socially and artistically, and in so many other senses...The movie talked about things people should be talking about. Was and still is brilliant, start to end! Both Jake and Heath, two of the best actors ever, job freaking well done...RIP Heath
Gods Jake is so relatable. If i were in his place I would have also singled out my best friend, like he singled out Heath by giving him a hug and turning back to exchange a ‘what is even happening’ gesture with him. Wonderful wonderful pair of actors, and what a beautiful chemistry they shared on the screen. R.I.P Heath, the movie industry is not the same without you.
His joy and humility are so evident. It's so great to watch. His gratitude is sincere and his comments about the role/movie are important and powerful.
Everyone knows Heath and Jake deserved their acting awards, Michelle too over Rachel Weicz and Brokeback Mountain deserved the best picture. Soudntrack too if they didn't win that.
They were incredible in this movie. We forgot during movie they were two boys, but we saw two persons who loved each other. That's the most important. R.I.P. Heath.
What a nice moment frozen in time. Heath still alive, him with Michelle, Jake getting the recognition he deserved and a superb film being honored (shame on you Oscars). Is it too soon to be nostalgic for 2005?
So very happy that JAKE won the BAFTA for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Wanted him to win the Oscar as well but that was not to be. So sad seeing HEATH LEDGER there as a nominee knowing his days were numbered. Hard to imagine it will be TEN years next month since he passed. Still miss him. They made a GREAT pair.
pleaseeee let him just win the prizes.(academy most likely) it's just so sweet when we see his tasteful face. full of joy and happiness. He deserve all the best.
Who reckons Jake was going for the kiss and Heath backed out?! He looked back at Heath and was like, "what?!" as if Heath had said "don't kiss me, man!". Kinda like their characters in the movie.....anyway you can easily read that into those moments here!
Oh my God, he's so adorable. Listen to him freak out about it. That face he made when they introduced him... Some people say, "I had no idea I was going to get this!" but then have a flawless speech prepared. The way he stumbles over his words and breathes heavily shows he's not being hypocritical - he's being serious.
Awesome film. Awesome acting. I watched this a few times, I thought it was very sad and depressing but brilliant at the same time. Heath is gone, he will never know what he was capable of. I hope Jake goes on and on he is a wonderful actor.
Jake is not just "cute" or "sweet", I'm afraid he's the best looking man on earth. And a hell of a good actor too! It really should be forbidden to be both beautiful and talented - one cant resist him!
Jake was really nervous and funny! I'm glad he'd won! He'd deserved it! He's very talented and handsome! And so, is Heath. He was sitting right in front of him and seemed EXTREMELY HAPPY when Jake won! Yeah, he supports him and Jake supports him. I liked it when he was getting his attention to congragulate him. I love them both.
