I remember watching this when it first came out, I thought that I could never get certified, but last year I got certified and now I’m scuba diving all over. All thanks to you. Thank you for inspiring people.
This was cool! Jake got to excitably hangout with Jonathan Bird, get scuba certified with someone famous, won FREE gear that’s SUPER expensive, AND travel to dive with Jonathan Bird. What more could you ask for? It was so fun to see Jake, a BIG fan build confidence in the water, follow Jonathan around, and impress Jonathan. I love this show.
Aww this is so sweet. Now this kid has such a sweet push towards following his passion for underwater science AND gear what will last him a very long time.
Awesome that you did that for that young man. Not only will he never forget it but you have him something he can continue for the rest of his life. Can't wait till my son gets certified so we can experience it together
Such a sweet and polite and enthusiastic young man! This kid is deserving of this wonderful opportunity to learn to dive. Kudos to The Blue World Team !!
Man I remember getting certified at 16 and I was just as excited as this kid. I'm 22 now and return home from my deployment with the guard next week and will be purchasing my very first scuba set! Can't wait!
The genuine joy on the young man's face, and even on Jonathan's and the others', is priceless! Also, the quality of the video is superb! Thanks for the video, Jonathan and team.
Just got my open water and seeing his computer just dangling around bothers me so much 😂 but I watch all your videos. Got out the Marines and want to pursue my diving education so I can cave dive!! That’s my ultimate goal
i live in the philippines to and had the same dream i want to ho diving with jonathan bird in the amazon to swim with pink river dolphins and mola molas
Nothing like having a personal instructor to get certified. What a great episode. BTW Jake isn’t the only one who has problems squeezing into a wetsuit.
Aww that was amazing!!! AND he got to feed some rays, explore a wreck & even some reef passages (not quite caves but I've seen enough of your cave dives to know you need extra experience for that); ie: a snapshot of your whole show!!!
This video popped up again on my recommended list, and this time I noticed that, while in his pool sessions he was wearing an Aqua~Lung BCD, in his first open water dive he was wearing a Sea-Quest BCD (6:35), the same brand as I have. Sea-Quest has been absorbed into Aqua~Lung, but you can still find them for sale and for rent. Good stuff.
And this is t we all love Jonathan, surprises young kids, and also has time to reply to almost 10k comments everyday and let’s not forget that he has nearly a million followers and still has time to reply to all of them thank god, I am proud to be following u since 2019, thank god I knew about this channel
Thanks! I did have a wonderful experience in a sting ray habitat and some were as big of not bigger than I! Thanks again and hope you have some good memories yourself!
I fell in love with diving at 10. My family went to Nassau for a vacation at Atlantis. I really wanted to go diving so my mom thinking she was being smart she said if I could pass the resort course test she would let me do it a big mistake on her part lol. My mom didn't want to do it but my dad did. So we did the pool dive in the morning then off to the dive boat for an afternoon dive. I remember being really scared sitting on the boat all suited up but taking the giant leap off the back of the boat settled the nerves. That winter my dad and I got the CD-ROM (yikes) PADI course. We completed all the quizzes and took it all to the Florida keys to do all the pool and ocean work. We live in the North East so not really a fan of diving in cold water. Everything went really well our instructor was tough but he did his job well! Passed everything and got my Jr open water. After getting certified the hardest part for me was finding equipment designed for kids. My dad ended up getting me a Dive rite BCD which allowed me to grow with it. 20 years later I still dive with it! Diving was something that brought my dad and I together. As a family growing up very summer our vacations were pretty much always to the Caribbean or Flordia. Including Grand Camen. While we were there we did our Advanced course doing Night Diving, Scooters (DPV's), Underwater Navigation, and Buoyancy Control. My dad can no longer dive due to ear issues but its something I continue to do whenever I can. Hopefully, when I have kids I'll be able to take them diving.
@@BlueWorldTV Certainly made a lot of great memories. He has a lot of issues equalizing. It was a struggle I sink like a rock and he just had to take his time so by the time we would get to the bottom the dive would be over. He even got some special mask IDK if they even make it anymore but it had ear muffs on it with tubes connecting it to the mask. His last time diving it was in key largo on a drift and by the time we were down, it was over. He gave up after that point.
Wow! he looked so happy. So nice to watch this, I dont know the kid or his family but thank you Jonathan for inspiring more people into the beautiful blue world!
Man you literally made up my whole childhood. I would watch you 24/7. You were the reason I wanted to become a diver and get into the sea industry. Thank you so much I miss your videos
Im getting started with trying to get a scuba diving certification. Thank you for inspiring me to get a scuba diving certification. I wanted to scuba dive since I was 7 and one year later, I f found your channel. I immediately fell in love with it and I’ve been watching ever since. Soon it’s gonna finally happen (trying to get my scuba certification). Thank you again for inspiring me and other people.
this is unbelievabley cool! I was about his age when I got my certification (I was 10) and i actually got certified in Grand Cayman too... but I also went to that exact same dive shop, and jumped off the same dock too! ugh really missing that place right now. He is super lucky to dive there because its hard to get much better than that.
Arya Kamdar Me too but im 16 :) I have it 3 years ago ...my father is a ..... so he didnt take me to diving never ever...but i have the advanced too...
I went diving last summer and I loved it, I'm the same age as Jake. It was only an experience so I didn't get to see much. Unfortunately I live really far from a dive store so I can't learn :(, also it's too expensive. I can't wait till I get older and I can get a certification. Jake is the luckiest person ever :D I am so jealous!
I wonder what is Jake doin right now in 2020, is he like traveling goin places to the Red Sea and divin, so Jake was 13 and now he might be 22, 23, or 24 right?
Hey say hi to Jake for me, and tell him we want him back in one of your vids, and also tell him to come to the Red Sea here in Jeddah cause my cousin is an amazing instructor and has 20 years of exp diving the Red Sea, he taught me remeber
You inspired me to start scuba diving my dive shop has a try scuba program should I do that before my open water classes or just do the open water PS I love your vids
Well, that's a great question. I would say that if you are sure you want to get certified, just go right to the class. The "Try Scuba" thing is generally for people who aren't sure and they want to see if it's too weird, scary, or they can't clear their ears. In general though most dive shops will apply the cost of a try scuba program to the cost of the certification if you go through with it.
Just discovered this video Jonathan. I continue to be moved and inspired by your absolutely positive spirit. You're a great man. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I’m a 13 year old living in Arkansas, I wish I could get certified I’ve been watching this channel and this one video over and over again, one day I will be certified I hope, but there’s not a lot of oceans around here.😂😂😂 love the channel though
Watched this video a long time ago as a very young kid and really kept on dreaming about becoming a scuba diver. I watched these videos so much when I was a kid and eventually my dad took notice of my interest in marine life. Aaaaah its really been so long , a long time ago becoming a scuba diver was nothing but a dream but now I just became an andvanced open water scuba diver just a few weeks ago! If I told my younger self years ago that Im diving nearly every weekend, younger me would not believe me at allll ahahahah
