This is quite special for me to watch. This is the guy that sampled my choir song "Psalms 121" to create "The Success" on Wale's current CD "The Album About Nothing". Because this song samples a gospel song, it's looking at exactly how he created "The Success" as well. WOW!!!

sampling is an art form. just like photography. you don't tell the photographer that he stole the scene. there's angles lighting composition etc. just like sampling there's eqing, chopping, looping, stretching, filtering, processing, etc.

Its more like a photographer taking a picture of someone else's painting. Its a reworking of someone else's art to make new art. If its done correctly, then its great. If its done poorly, then its just ripping off someone else's art.

Bullshit! Sampling is sampling. Making your own melodies.. Now that's art! Playing the guitar, playing the keyboard, recording your own vocals and backup vocals, Working on the structure of the track, mixing, and mastering. To create something out of nothing...That's art. You wanna to be called a melody maker...than BE a melody maker

its like when some prod. use that tape saturation to" warm up" the track. Those machines by todays standards are primitive. But they sorta give sounds that analog feeling. WOWW !!! It's not the gear/equiptment so much as the creativity of the artist (!!!!!!) that makes the music extraordinary.People Commented on him using a 002 rack while skipping the fact that his go to piece of equiptment, the bread and butter of his studio is his ASR which is probably about 25yrs old.I know people who still use them.U can spend thousands on the newest tech and gadgets but if you dont have creativity and dont know how to use them they wont help U much.I've seen it work both ways, and JAKE has IT !!!

+67thAveAssassin... ASR rack mount has a ton of effects the keyboard if im' correct only has 2 outs etc.. but it has a muddy kinda sound kinda like the sp12's back in the day. Kanye uses it heavy and Timbaland did before the Fanthom came along. Most people dont know how to get those hard hits with a lil bit of grime on them. Warren G slipped and dropped a gem on Dre when he said Dre does allot of digital sounds etc but mixes them down through analog boards etc.
