This scene is absolutely perfect. The exchange between billy and Jamie, that final shot of the car, Billy crying out for his brother. Chokes me up even to this day!
Hey Billy here's my car, don't mind that it's highly incriminating evidence in a half dozen murders and the destruction of hundreds of thousands in private and public property.
@@22steve5150 See. It's not the same car anymore. Jake's/Jamie's car was pitch black even during the day. The car Billy received is 2 tone, clearly visible during both scenes (the scene with Kerry and the scene with Billy). What I'm saying is, when Jamie reveals himself to Kerry, he said he lost his powers ("I can't do that again"), the same goes for the car, it lost all the magic it had, Billy simply received a random car's prototype, one of a kind, sure, but no longer a murder weapon/tool of revenge. Even sheriff Loomis realised, that whatever is eliminating Packard's gang isn't from this world, when that black car suddenly disappeared before his eyes. And only one person from Packard's gang was spared - Rughead, who was basically innocent, had nothing to do with Jamie's murder. So after eliminating the whole gang (minus one innocent) the case was "closed as solved" basically. No gang member left to kill, no weapon/tool to use, Billy's new car was quite ordinary, no longer a supernatural force for exacting revenge on a bad street racer gang.
I'm sorry; I think this film has more emotion than it's given credit for. I know, I've had it on tape since 1988, and a young Charlie Sheen, yeah, he could sell you a car (I mean in a good way). Feelings in this this film, huh? Still sorry about how you feel about your brother. You doing okay about that?:
I have a pretty good idea of what you've been through watching my eldest and youngest son cope with the loss of my middle son, 19. Sincere condolences from a mother who lost her son to someone who lost his brother. Prayers for you and him.🙏
he had been calling jake "bro" the whole movie. when he asks who he was, jake said "you said it, billy". then billy calling out to him..............damn. still hits hard.
The car is still other worldly and the fact investigators won’t be able to match the car to the crime ya know car Kept reappearing after the crashes with no damage or paint transfer.
Who would have thought that a crazy movie like this would become a cult classic and have such a heart felt scene. If you don’t feel it when Billy gets that car and finally cries out to Jamie, then you need to check yourself for a pulse
One day there will a remake of this courtesy of the modern instagram generation. It'll be politically correct. It'll have great special effects. It'll LOSE all the emotion and heart - guaranteed it'll suck.
@@ricsim78 Indeed. This ending scene with Jake and the girl he loves..... it would be her texting him "I'm dropping my son of at his Fathers house. HMU for Netflix and chill".
I saw this movie when I was a little kid, and even back then the ending got to me, because Billy realized who Jake actually was...but that he would probably never see him again.
I was really surprised that Keri wasn't even remotely shocked to learn the truth about Charlie's character. Even his brother shows more emotion when he recognizes him.
I think she knew on some level. He asked for directions and she offered to show him herself despite Packard coming soon and he, like Jamie, wasn't afraid of the lunatic.
Many people comment about this scene and Jamie giving the murder car to his brother. Watch the movie again and pay closer attention to Loomis' reactions. By the end of the movie he knows whats going on, and has given up chasing or trying to stop what can't be stopped.
Not only that, but the car changed. While it was an obvious error behind the scenes. When Jake gave him the car, it has all the identifying marks of a local car. Such as the Dodge logo and some labels. Whereas the Turbo has no ID marks of any kind when it was racing and killing.
@@Shanethefilmmaker Exact same body shape and it's not like there would be many of those running around. Still, Loomis was likely happy Packard and his bunch were dead and already figured out even his best effort to catch the Interceptor was not nearly good enough
Oliver Stone, the director of "Platoon" which stared Charlie Sheen, got mad at Charlie for making this movie. Charlie had filmed Platoon and it was still in post production editing when Charlie made this quick Wraith movie and it was released at about the same time as Platoon.
Haha I thought the same, never realized it watching as a kid but rewatching as an adult I was like...wait a minute his brother just kind of screwed him by giving him that car the police are looking for 🤣
I am sure Loomis (The town sheriff) more than likely called off the investigation after Packard was the last one taken out. Remember Loomis told Murphy not to pursue the Dodge Turbo Interceptor anymore because the gang was all gone.
No they're not. By the time Packard's dead Loomis has figured out what's going on and drops the investigation right then and there. This is why the last you see of him he's watching the reunited couple driving off, shaking his head with a bemused expression. It's over.
I really didn't expect this movie to make me cry. I enjoyed it for the fun 80s movie it was, but then THIS scene happened xD Loved it. Idc what some people are saying that it's not an oscar performance. It's still moving.
You know something, all of the years I grew up watching this movie, that never occurred to me. That's a good point. haha. It's like no one in this movie has a home life, except for Kerri walking out of her parents house to get picked up. I always assumed all of the characters were supposed to be roughly in their late teens to early 20's. Maybe Packard, Rug Head, and Skank could be in their mid to late 20's. Then again, not a lot was explained in this movie. It moves at such a fast pace, you're just along for the ride and try to enjoy I guess.
Keep in mind that these are kids living in a small town. The girls work at a burger joint and the guys don't seem to have any jobs at all. I'm sure these kids all went to high school and graduated and then just did whatever. The parents probably weren't much better.
The movie isn't about their parents. The characters are young, but they're still clearly adults and it can be inferred that they're all past high school and out of the house. Keri could be crashing at a friend's place rent-free, for all we know, since she packs up and leaves without a second thought.
This is the 80s we are the latch key kids meaning we came home when the street lights came on and mom or dad came home from work when it was dark you were 12 or younger
Minutes after he gets the keys...he gets a FedEx letter showing a recall on all demonic Chryslers and then he realized why the car was free as it turns out it needs a new cylinder head gasket.
Face it, Christine, The Wraith, and Futurama's Warecar are all typical of almost EVERY Chrysler owner's car. The most gremlin laced cars to ever leave Detroit. Can be awesome performers, but keep a book of prayers and chants (factory approved) in the glove compartment.
my older brother and I grew up watching this movie. it was one of our favs, we were obsessed! He passed away years ago and now I cant help but tear up for only I can dream of this happening to me..
i grew up with this movie i was 8 years old when this came out i seen it for the first time on hbo the following year , because the video store was not something thought of in my area but when i seen this movie . i was like damn this is awesome . now in my late 30,s it still holds up pretty good. it really needs a remake and bigger budget . i know alot of people would love to see the wraith take place now . maybe with a badass street bike this time around .
As much as I like the “Hold on Blue Eyes” song, the instrumental version that starts in the background at :40 sounds better to me. It just went so well with the happiness of the scene with him and Kerry
way back in the 80s us kids used to go to our friends houses when their parents was out and on saturday nights we would all chip in to rent a VHS tape from the local video store.. we used to get a few beers and a pack of 10 cigarettes.. Well i met a girl one night in a house we went to watching this film way back about 1986 and she sat next to me the whole way through this film.. we became very good friends that night and for a few good 3 months after that.. This girl had a boyfriend who was a bit of a jerk so we kept our friendship very quiet.. after3 months i had to leave cornwall and go back home to manchester.. we kept n touch by paper mail but we didnt have phones or email back then.. after 3 months we lost touch and ive tried to find her.. but i guess sometimes its just left alone.. to this day i never really knew sandra.. but i hope your well and live a good life xxx
This movie is one of my favorites from the 80s. But, a lot of 80s movies had one fatal flaw... Plot holes. Too many unanswered questions. Like, how did Jamie get the power of the Wraith, and the car? Who, or what, gave them to him? Why did he just leave his brother behind? Wouldn't he have wanted to rekindle a relationship with his brother, as well as his girl? I enjoy the Wraith, every time I see it. But, those are questions I'd need answered.
Can't believe that Billy scene was used for laughs. I lost my brother and that scene is heartbreaking. It's acting out a fantasy we can never experience in real life.
I like to think that Jake put some kind of special "magic" on the car before he left it with Billy that would make it to where it was unrecognizable to Loomis and the local law enforcement. I was so jealous of Billy when he gave him the turbo interceptor!!!!
I have always remembered he took Keri and before he came back he told her we aren’t going to far pack light! Did Jaime which is a wraith (soul) take her to her death? Since he is a soul !
That may well be the real car at the end. The rest of the time it's replicas built on dune buggy platforms. The real car has scissor doors, not the gullwing doors Charlie Sheen steps out of.
Always brings back memories.... On another note....I wonder if Jake/Jaime ever thought if it was wise to leave his little brother the car that police were looking for that was involved in several vehicular homicide cases in the area...🤔😂🤣
This is basically The Crow but in a small desert town with racing. Been watching this since I was a little kid. 37 now and I see it much differently. When he screams his true name I could shed tears
Yeah. The crow is basically the average straight forward 80s. I'm gonna get revenge flick.Just with an added back from the dead. So is john wick. They got slaughtered in the 80s,But now they getting hailed cause Keanu reeves is in in em.
Guys! Somebody knows that music from 1:50 - when Jamie visits Billy? That music is not on the soundtrack.:/ That is a "never-released" song? One of the most beauty melody what i have ever heard.
@@mxrcxl_kg Omg! Thank you very much - many many thanks! Oh, God! This is a masterpiece! I cant thank you this! Merry Christmas dear BOTxSmilz! God Bless You! It is amazing!

I like this movie, but I love how he gives his brother the car that he used to kill a bunch of people with and the police are looking for it. "Enjoy jail bro! I'm off to someplace with my hot girlfriend"
Let not pretend he didn't just give him a car that's wanted in multiple murders. Could be a problem in a tiny town as its parked outside his job at the restaurant. Don't you think?
Yeah. Been saying that for years. I have a feeling,he didn't like his little brother so much lol. Can't you just see Billy trying to convince a jury, he got the car from his long gone, possibly dead brother. I'm sure they believe him, when they sentence him to 10 to life.
I love this movie,l was happy as l found it on the internet! Long ago l examined it and remember it to this day. Little action that reflects the spirit of PATRICK SWAYZE and DEMI MOORE.
