30 years ago tonight! The World Wrestling Federation LIVE from Madison Square Garden. This Main Event between "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Jake "The Snake" Roberts was great. Great job putting over Savage.
I can't form a logical-defense against Jake "The Snake" Roberts being the best promo guy in history. No disrespect to Flair, Piper, Dusty, Savage, etc. This guy was just on that other stuff back then. LITERALLY. You believed everything he said because HE believed everything he said. Jake could have made millions as a lead actor back then.
D2K Prime exactly! most people when they meet someone as dark, witty, calm and confident as him, the best they can possibly come up with is some lame, fearful getaway like "screw you you sick creep" or the like
Part of what made wrestling then great!! Good promos but different in their own ways that played off eachother!! You don’t want the same thing!! Then one good characters gets off and another one comes on tv… so many good wrestlers..Look in Jake’s eyes and machos eyes…. You believed them!!!
Dinesh Kotian ironically it started as an accident. He had a guy in a front face lock went to step back and tripped and drove the guy on his head. He realized it could be a good move and started using it as his finisher.
