Honestly discovering Lady was pregnant was such a shock when I watched for the first time, especially considering what happened previously in the episode.
I was really afraid that at one point in the show, they would do a breakup storyline between Jake and Lady. I’m very glad that they didn’t and just kept them as a happy, loving couple who have some problems in their relationship but love one another unconditionally. Plus, any Jake/Lady relationship issue storyline would just be overkill with all the other romantic drama going on in the show with Finn’s love life and Marcy/PB’s relationship.
@@valentinkambushev4968 I wouldn’t call Jake and Lady’s relationship “unrealistic”. There’s plenty of happy couples out there and people who have been married for 50+ years where they have different personalities and yet they’re able to make their relationship work. Jake and Lady just happened to be the “happy couple” exception when the majority of shows like to do the “on and off” thing with their relationships.
@@valentinkambushev4968 if anything having different types of relationships makes it more realistic. Some couples just die happily some break up easily and some need years to actually figure their shit out and grow enough to fit each other perfectly.
I agree. They were initially pitched as best friends at the beginning of the show. PB is even riding Lady in the show’s intro. Outside of “Lady and Peebles” (which was an awesome episode), we didn’t really get a ton of 1 on 1 interactions between them. I wish we got some more.
@@RubyLing_ pb and Marcy break up because of complications in their relationship and only get back together when they’ve sorted themselves out, sounds pretty realistic (though maybe a bit optimistic) to me
Jake and Lady Ranicorn were definitely my secondary favorite couple in the Adventure TIme series, they accomplished a lot as a couple because you know they had puppies and all that, hell they're relationship was more successful than any of Finn's romances not that it's a competition.
@@pandorasfox7544 I hope it’s finn and fp or Simon and Betty but pb and Marcy are cool I guess but i like genderbent versions more as characters than dictator princess and daddy issues marcy also it’s hard to choose between Fiona with prince gumball or marshalee as the favorite genderbent ships
I wish the rainicorn pups had shown up more than 1 episode to introduce them and then 1 episode each, other than Kim Kil Wan who got a third appearance in the Bronwyn episode I wish Bronwyn had shown up more than once too
@@Gr3nadgr3gory He was using Candy law. They all live in the Grasslands, which is under the rule of Candy Kingdom. This is why Finn and Jake were put in jail in the Candy Kingdom.
I Low-key love Lady Rainicorn! She's so pretty! Back then I didn't know that her "giberish talk" was actually just Korean until I learned About different languages in highschool! 🌈🦄
Yeah, I didn't know that she was speaking Korean until later on when someone posted a video that was a translation of what she said from Korean to English. I also didn't learn that the viola was a real instrument until I was in 6th or 7th grade either 😅
Jake’s “dumb but zen”-ness is kind of a power. It gets him an awesome unicorn gf, and instantly befriends *two of the most powerful characters in the show* aka Prismo and the Cosmic Owl
Thank you for specifying when its ok to have characters be one note. I feel like a lot of people dont understand that its ok to have characters be one dimensional as long as they dont get a lot of screen time or arent important to the plot. People get so hung up on making sure every character that is introduced has some dramatic backstory or emotional depth that they forget that its ok to just let characters show up to just exist and be cool to look at
then theyre not even characters, they're attempt /at/ characters. characters in general are meant to make the whole world feel fleshed out. you dont have to gave each and every character a dramatic backstory, but atleast let them breathe life in the story.
@ponpon ''Who seem to be "just there, your random friendly ally with no background story", but they just keep their stuff to themselves and it's comfortable for them to be withdrawn about their personality.'' that doesnt seem like a one-dimensional character to me
@@underwirez No. They are simply non-characters. Background characters don't have to have a character. They can just be there. The amount of importance and screentime they have should be proportional to how developed they are, so if they are irrelevant and have almost no screen-time then they can be one-note.
I love how He's Calling Jake a "Broke-ass", Have you seen Finn and Jakes Treasure Room? but I agree with the Other aspects of the video, and I really liked when Lady and Jake where on screen together
Yep but they did get rid of it due to space issues and wasted all of it they could have atleast spend it to make a cooler house maybe a mansion built inside the tree house and or a giant vault underground and duck tail jump it I wanted them to buy a red flying car similar to their parents car Joshua and Margaret or they ask Jerome for the car and ask pb to upgrade it It would also have a red falcon themed modern motorcycle in the middle seat that bmo sits and controls the car and is the navigator of it until nepter becomes the car (Similar to how Finn mom became a robot) and it released by the bike super jumping and change to flight mode turns to a glider shaped like a mega latios with the falcon head with a glass protector when searching or locking a target to shoot rockets and it can change to be a drone with the wheels split to 2 each and making them function as the propeller but once the bike and car combine they can fly super fast with nuclear energy charging it to be fast and even be a falcon mech robot with its wings being a sword made of green flames and a titanium shield with blasters behind it and other magic stuff and science tech it will be the ultimate robot for Neptur to use and be useful to finn and jake or make the battle elephant be a transforming creature and be transformed to a ram goat a giant fish to a white falcon and pink dragon and others also could wear detective clothes red and blue for jake and finn as they solve crimes while riding the red car 90s style and be heroes that jakes orange son be proud of Instead of wasting all of it to a fruit city couldn’t be done it too all the kingdoms and bought cool stuff at the same time
@@adlirez Yep! He duct taped that shit instead of using the literal treasure horde in their entry room. Also it's probably pretty hard to find a classical wooden viola in Ooo.
After the dog math bit it made me realize that even by dog standards Jake is OLD. Finn was SEVENTEEN when Adventure Time ended, which means Jake was at least 18 or 19 at the time since he was a Young Adult when Finn was a baby. JAKE WAS 72-75 IN DOG YEARS AT THE END OF ADVENTURE TIME! No wonder he was so wise!
Yeah but he's half alien. And his parents are still alive so I would assume the fact they live in a post apocalyptic world affected by radiation would have some life extending properties...
It’s weird that we didn’t get to see the two of them getting married even after the pups were born. But I guess that’s just them being free-spirited. Still a wedding between them would have been adorable.
Some people just don't want to get married. Finn referred to Jake as Lady's husband when he called her to ask for help in saving Jake and she made it a point to say that he's her boyfriend not her husband. This was after they had the puppies. It seemed like they talked about it and decided it wasn't for them which kind of makes sense given their free spirited personalities. They're still exclusive and committed to each other without a ring on their finger, it's actually pretty refreshing to see a couple in fiction get a happy ending without necessarily having a wedding.
I kinda like TV, how he got invested in the diary that he found and how he didn't really complain much about anything. His life was his computer, but when asked to do chores and stuff, he wasn't whining. He just seemed chill and in need of direction.
@@kingacrisius No, lots of people love cellos. It’s mostly other cello players, but there’s some esteem there. Viola players don’t care about violas. The only reason we chose them over violins is so we don’t have to tune that monstrosity of an E string.
@@reyalfa18 Kinda like real life. You don't get to see how everything happen in other people's life. Suddenly, the next cousin you see already have kids. Your boss suddenly got retired. etc.
I love lady so much because I'm Korean too! I remember when she first spoke Korean, I got so so happy someone like me was represented in a show like adventure time. I loved her so much that I drew fanart of her and showed it to my mom, (and i remember distinctly saying ) "Mom, Mom, look, she's like me! She speaks like I do!" In korean. Probably my fav character lmao X]] also huge flex of mine is that i can understand her dialouge xD
ok so imagine none of the people that worked on adventure time knew how to speak korean and no one tried to translate but they just told basic things to the voice actor for lady rainicorn like "just say something funny to jake" or "tell them about how you can merge your body" and she just started saying really kinky stuff
Funny how we thought Jake and Rainicorn having kids would be a game changing per say but nope, end of the episode it was back to status quo just with an episode on focusing one of the kids! Also likewise I liked the business the kid the most eventhought I would HATE him to have my dad from Jake pov! I mean despite of their upbringing, he was the most mature of them all! Also I accume he forgive Jake when he handed him that stone ocarina is that he he finally felt loved from his dad given they only seen him twice throughout their super ages up lives!
I love Charlie so much I wish they did more with her :/ the scene with her breaking down her future was the first time I saw a realistic break down of a life and it made me feel less scared of the future as a whole.
In Puhoy! BMO pointed out that the pups' short childhood must have sucked for Jake and he makes this face and I appreciated that. Jake is childish at heart. Once he had overcome his anxiety, I think he would have made a good father.
I like to look at Jake using D&D terms, just because it helps me contextualize things. He has high Wisdom and Charisma, but Intelligence is his dump stat. Oh, also, he’s a Chaotic Good Sorcerer.
I will always have the one episode of Jake trying to be a dad as one of the ones I will never forget. I laughed too hard at the 'the fox that ate babies' bit. Suggestion, cover some of the JT Doggzone parts, since I remember that was a shipping adjacent part of the show that was recurring.
Tbh, I wasn't invested in Jake being a dad when it happened. I didn't wanna see a bunch of episodes of Jake and baby times with the added "can't see him and Finn interact for awhile" so after being annoyed with the "I'm overprotective" episode, I was kinda relieved as a kid to see him come back. And I really liked seeing him have episodes with his kids. This was just my thought when I saw it premiere over time as a young lad
Bro so lmao I almost passed out at my own joke once it was at church I remember my little brother said something dumb and for a sec I was like hm okay but out of nowhere I started laughing hard but trying to keep it in and I just kept laughing because my brother started laughing and then the embarrassment kicked in which made me laugh even MORE and then I started losing air and I started laughing EVEN MORE AND STRUGGLING TO BREATHE which made me wanna laugh more cuz I was dying but in the end I managed to compose myself because I tried hard to stop laughing when I noticed I was starting to black out
moving to a next show? oh, to bad. I think that the love tragedy of betty and simon makes a good video, especially to see how this love almost kill Simon 3 times and almost destroy all of OOO.
*Stolitz popping up as an example* Me, person who this observation is about: I came here to have a good time and honestly I feel *very* attacked right now~ 🤣🤣🤣
I always assumed Jake's missing out on his kids 5 hours was suppose to represent the whole. "Spend the time you have with your kids" and "trying to be who you aren't doesn't help anyone" vibes and since the greatest lesson of Jake is " don't be like me be like you"
I didn't think "literal rainbow/unicorn hybrid" would ever be something I needed in my life, but for some reason, watching her move her long, wiggly body is really pleasing to the eye.
I loved this ship. Jake and Lady are both goofy and compliments each other well. I do wish we could have seen Jake being a dad for at least a season though.
@@q-miiproductions878It's not... "Jake" is neutral bc it's also short for Jaclyn. The joke is that she's actually a lot like Jake Sr & is his mirror in a lot of ways!
I wish we got more Lady Rainicorn, she rarely got to be a character in her own right. She's typically pidgeonholed into being Princess Bubblegum's friend/mount or Jake's girlfriend/wife. Jake meanwhole got tons of screentime, focus and development as his own person, even separate from Finn sometimes. I guess her whole quirk being she speaks almost entirely in Korean with subtitles, it might be hard for her to carry an episode, but I felt they could have done more with her before turning her into a mom with little agency or focus.
The weird thing is didn’t all his kids end up insinuating he’s a deadbeat later? Because they hardly ever seen him in their lives. Even though they’re technically adults and Jake been there the few days they were kids.
My understanding was that Lady Rainicorn was there to signify that you could trust Jake for relationship advice. He could go on all those adventures and maintain a healthy, stable relationship.
the time kim kil whan actually bought the house was right after the ep where finn and jake spent all their money. (also even tho he has money he just doesn't live up to most of their standards)
Btw in the pilot for adventure time (not the first episode, the pilot that was pitch to nickoloeon) Jake met lady when they went to go save princess bubblegum. In the pilot lady was PB's rainicorn and jake like the sly dog he is was chatting it up with lady while finn was trying to fight the ice king.
My fav thing about jake and lady (and maybe even bubbline) was that your relationship doenst need a ring to solidify your love for each other I think they made like 2 or 3 jokes within the series of Finn calling lady “jakes wife” only for jake to correct him calling her his girlfriend They could’ve gotten married at any time they wanted, had a whole episode dedicated to it. But they don’t need to ❤️
my girl calls me Jake and I call her Princess R.C., i'm glad they're just happy with each other, sounds like us. She wants kids one day... I won't tell her I'm cool with it, imma need a surprise.
2:07 I've never accepted a headcanon so hard in my life. Save maybe my mental image on how Marcy's parents got together. Marcy's future mom: YO DEMON LORD! LET ME GET A PIECE OF THAT *HOT BOD!!* "And then he said 'fine.' and that's how I met your father."
I often wonder what the experience of watching Adventure Time would be like for Korean families compared to families that don't understand a word of Korean, lol. A lot of the more kinkier stuff that Lady Rainicorn mentions is hidden to most monolingual speakers through her speaking Korean. But for parents that are watching their kids watch Adventure Time and know exactly what she is saying, well... 0_0 XD
I love Lady so much, she's just a vibe. She lives in the moment just like Jake and doesn't worry about anything, I did like her little backstory since it shows that she is a badass but chooses to not to do anything because why should she. She's got her own life and it's great
I think lady rainacorn met Jake in the pilot episode where she asked them to save Princess bubblegum from ice king. Unless the pilot episode doesn’t count.🤔 but I think that’s how they met.
I usually don't leave comments on these videos because they'll probably be buried among all the others, but this time, I feel I actually have something to say: so... if we're talking about side couples... Rigleen next?
idk if it's just my brain or your humor is chefs kiss but i laughed at every single joke so hard that I'm now lying on the floor instead of my bed lol Jake is like my ult fav cartoon character of all time so this video was really lovely to watch. Thanks for making it👍🏻
