I was actually pretty surprised by the Mario figure. Compared to the other Jakks Pacific Mario figures I’ve messed around with, I thought his articulation and quality was better than normal. Still prefer the Figuarts version, but this is a pretty solid figure for someone who is looking to add an articulated Mario to their shelf without shelling out the money for the Figuarts one.
At their normal $20 price point I wasn't going to pick these up but the sale at Target for $13.99 I buckled and picked them up. I'm glad I did. I think that's a fair price point. They look nice on the shelf. Princess Peach and Luigi are nice additions. Bowser looks the best. Good collection of figures if you get a good deal on them. They should stick with the sweet spot of 14-15 bucks per regular fig.
I’m excited for the Mario movie It’s nice to see so many call backs from the actual games I don’t mind everyone’s voice though I feel like peach’s personality is too “Girl Boss”
Hey Anthony, taking the head apart I can confirm that the head isn’t on a swivel but rather a double ballpeg. The ballpeg is just seated unusually low into the figure though so it really only acts as a swivel.
I like these figures. They have a lot of details. While parts are colored plastic, they made sure the parts that needed paint had it. I do commend them for the articulation they were able to add. Mascot style characters like that are difficult to make look good with articulation. It tends to ruin the sculpt.
Pretty excited for this movie honestly, I joked about Pratt as Mario but from what I've seen in the trailers, he's gonna nail it. I am seeking these figures out, at least Mario and Luigi, but I've seen them go for $20 unless they added a fiver at the last moment.
I've got the world of Nintendo Bowser thats about the same size and he's just a brick. So the engineering is a slight improvement, that one had some weird preposing too. The proportions, smaller head, are different than the game Bowser and that throws me off. But I kinda love him. I usually hate needless gimmicks that purely jack up the price but the fire breath reminds me of something I'd have loved as a kid. Mario I prefer 4 inch height for my display but the texturing and sculpt are cool. Reminds me of the Brawl debut trailer when everyone gets uprezzed. Except bright colors instead of the desaturated "realistic" look. Still $25 is *rough* when the SHF pacman is still $20
Im super excited for the Mario film, looks absolutely amazing, and I for one enjoy the cast and enjoy their takes on the characters. Visually it's so dense it wouldn't matter how bad it was, it would still be a feast for the eyes. I picked up the entire line of these 6 inch scale figures. They all look great together. I wish Toad was a bit cheaper than the other cost wise, and also I think the Princess could have been done way better. Bowser is the absolute hit of the line though, that fire effect is amazing.
Tbh, with the amount of cameos Darwin is in your videos, I’d say you got your moneys worth out of him lol. I thought the movie for was good, however, most of the time I couldn’t make out jack black as bowser and that kinda bummed me out, wish his voice came through more. And with Mario I didn’t even realize who was voicing it as he kept going in and out of his accent
Gotta disagree with not going with the OG Mario voice actor. I've heard him use the accent without it being constantly over the top while still obviously being Mario. Definitely think it was a weird decision to pick Chris Pratt tho, hearing him didn't do it for me. Given I've heard other voices from other countries, all of them try to lean into a more traditional Mario tone vs what we got with Pratt.
I had to watch the trailer when you said Jack Black was playing Bowser. He sounds better than I thought he would! I’m excited for the movie now. The steam gimmick is pretty cool. Awesome review Anthony 🙌👏💯❤️
There's a company doing basically KOish versions of the Figuarts line that further developed it. Good for what you pay for them. Have their Bowser. Almost a statue but good enough.
@@LagannDriller024 Looked up my Bowser and it's Jakks Pacific. There are comparisons online and they pretty much use the same proportions and size as the Figuarts. Their Yoshi is even compatible with the Figuarts line.
I was originally turned off by these figures but right now these figures are on sale on Amazon for around 40%-50% off. I currently don’t own any Mario figures so I figured at that price point there isn’t that much to lose.
@@AnthonysCustoms well in the games i think hes limited to monkey noises 😂, but I'm sure he is quite the chatty fellow in the movie. kind of something that annoys me in general with these characters. I learned my lesson with the Ryan Reynolds Pikachu. 🤮
I bought bowser only because I didnt have a bowser. Looks good... Cheaper and bigger than the ones online. Im cool with it, fits well in my smash collection
I think mario should have had his mario voice but not talk a a lot during the film. We’ve basically only ever heard him way Wahuh and Mario so it’s hardly a loss
i was hoping those legs for Bowser could be straighten up so he could stand taller and yah they are overpirced here in the Philippines - cool honest review
I personally do not see myself going to see the movie because I am not, particularly a fan of illumination movies. altho i may have to see it soon enough because I am going on vacation soon and may see it because i will have more free time
I agree with you about Bowser voice actor. Jack Black does not fit the character. But I'll still see the film. I care :/ I wish for the prices, they were better every which way. But on clearance for 50% off, I'd get Mario for sure and maybe... maybe Bowser.
In my area, they’re $20. A bit much considering that the WON Breath of the Wild Link was $10 and is overall a better figure. I’ll probably get Mario and Luigi when they go on sale. Peach looks pretty crappy and the Bowser seems like a glorified gimmick. As an actual action figure it’s not good. Mario isn’t either, but it looks like you can pull some things off with him.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie. I think the voice acting is fine. What concerns me is I've only watched the first trailer but I very much got the vibe that Mario is a bumbling baffoon and Peach is a girl boss. This is a (increasingly) common trope in entertainment everywhere but it's not a message that I want my children to hear, so my excitement and willingness to see the movie hinges on that. Sad that you have to vet children's movies now before children watch them, but here we are
I think people are overhyping the Mario movie a bit too much. It just looks like a kids' movie. For a grown man, not super interested. Not a fan of Peach being so active, I think the animation looks a bit washed out and over exposed, and it's not really doing anything interesting with the IP. Just looks kinda dull.
@@muisverriet It’s not doing anything outside of what’d you’d expect for Mario. It’s just concepts from the games regurgitated into a movie. At that point, I may as well sit down and play the games. What’s the point of adapting something if you’re not gonna do anything creative or different with it? Besides, it’s another nostalgia-pandering adaptation from Hollywood. Not the kind of movie I enjoy.
@@muisverriet Yeah. Whoever heard of adaptations that differed from the source in good ways? Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump, Jaws, The Exorcist. All terrible films. Creative liberties are worthless and risks are always bad. In all honesty, though, change isn’t always good. You certainly can have bad adaptations that stray too far from the original, but in general, if an adaptation is too close, I see it as no more worthy of praise than one that misunderstands the original. Neither do anything to justify their existence. Also, the 1993 Mario kicks ass imo.
