I still say Jakob at 100% is unbeatable but the current group, at least for now. HEG of Morocco was similar in his time. Took him a long time to get Olympic gold despite being the best at the distance overall. That’s why the heats and tactics make such unpredictable championships

And it will be closed in Paris with 3 Brits ganging up on him. From in front or behind Kerr has him in his pocket, and they both know it. You can see it in their eyes and their body language. However fast Kerr has to run in Paris is how fast he will run. He's clearly the strongest middle distance runner in the world. Period.

This defeat will be in his mind on the start line of the Olympic 1500m final. Compounded by his last two consecutive global 1500m failures. He needs to focus on the 5,000 metres where he can dominate. His 1500 metre rivals all know his weaknesses.

@@neilmcguinness4422 LOL, this was not a defeat. Good lord, this was Jakob's first race of the year. There are very little people in history who ever won their first season opener against top 5 runners in the world. This was Josh Kerr's 5th race of the year. I gurantee you Jakob will win the Olympics because this is just the beginning for him.
@Darrenski
@Darrenski 18 дней назад
No, that clearly WAS a defeat. Or you need a dictionary. How would you describe his none defeat in the world's final as well? Was that a 'blip'? Face it, Kerr is stronger and now his 'great' rival won't have a clue what his best strategy will be in Paris, or what Kerr will have lined up. This was run in their heads and Kerr was showing him he can win any way he wants. If you don't see this as a defeat then why all his pre-race ramblings about going to win etc, and trying to brush off Kerr. Well what I saw WAS a defeat alright and a man famed for his finishing making zero ground on Kerr, who even eased up to the line.

Jakob will be much stronger and faster by the time the Olys come around. When he's got snap in his legs, he switches to a more upright posture when he's sprinting in the homestretch. We didn't see that here. Here he just maintained his usual race-pace posture to the end. Put a few Diamond League races under his belt, and look out.

Exactly. In Paris his 'great' rival now won't have a clue what his best strategy will be and he will be in two minds. While I think Kerr already knows exactly what he's going to do, aided by the other 2 Brits who know Kerr is the man, will box in or in some way hamper or frustrate him and steal a yard off him somewhere and that might be the yard Kerr needs for the gold. Kerr's fitness is at another level now. The way he closed that last 600m and ran up front demonstrates his improved strength. Jakob was injured and has now done his opener. With that in mind, I'd be more worried about Kerr at the Olympics. Jakob is close to his verses even after an injury. "People don’t realize that this is Jakob’s first race in over a year . . . " No. It's not. His last race before this one was at the Diamond League final in Eugene, where he doubled in the mile and 3,000m. That meet was held on Sept. 16 and 17, 2023. But yes, even 9 months is a long time between races for someone at his level.

@@randyevermore9323 Huh? Sept. 2023 he ran at the Prefontaine classic. I get it not exactly a year, it’s still is his first race back since he ran a 3:43 mile. Do you want me to go further into details in both races? He wore sunglasses 🕶️ in the 3k?

@@randyevermore9323 The significant thing is the quality of his run following a lengthy training interruption caused by an injury. And credit to Neil Gourley. Fourth and 3.47 after only resuming running training six weeks ago.

Jakob won his next race only by diving over the line against Cheriot im not overly impressed hes two one paced he doent have a short kick and theres like 10 that can do 3.29 or less for 1500

Jakob was content with the fast time. He had more in the tank but its not time for that yet. Amazing that the announcers didn't see that.

Jacob is a great 1500m runner but not a specialist..he just lacks a little 800m speed..personally think he should go 5000m and the 10000m long term..he has a huge capacity for holding high pace over distance...forget doubling up 1500m and 5000m at the Olympics ...do one or the other young man.
