I believe this is the best ever performance of this beautiful and yet simple aria by Vivaldi. Orlinski is simply exceptional - his crystal clear and velvety smooth voice, his long phrasing, beautiful continuously undulating legato, perfect balance from low to high - and, how he does the high - crystal clear, without any trace of vibrato (as present at other singers). The first tone he starts with, captures and mesmerises you and you are done. He comes on the stage as human, when he opens his mouth he is a demigod and at da capo he becomes divine - an absolute god of singing, that kills you softly with the last high note and at the end you scream for more. He sings with great ease, relaxed and self-confident (but of course, he is the best!) and every tone and little phrase or ornament is placed pitch-perfect - a true star performance! Smooth like the very best virgin olive oil or precious burgundy wine in a crisp cut crystal glass. Now, that I have heard him, there is no other, no other can match him. Unforgettable!
I think the version where he sings at the radio station is the best, it's more intimate, no mic on his face, just him and the pianist, you can feel the richness of his voice much more

Jakub's talent is a triumph of millions of years of evolution, condensed, over and over again, into a few minutes of beauty for our most fortunate pleasure. He is an exceptional human being. We have no right to disparage the reality of his sheer excellence with references to fiction.
What's the difference beetwen calling his talent a God's gift and a result of evolution? Either way it's obvious that he had to work hard to master singing like that.

I francesi che nel '700 odiavano a morte i nostri sopranisti e contraltisti meravigliosi (seppur tristemente castrati)....oggi vadano in brodo di giuggiole per i controtenori.
