He and his mother saw it as a way to save for college, but when White landed the role as Steven Urkel on Family Matters that all changed. What was meant to be a one-time appearance as Urkel turned into the most popular character in the series, resulting in a career-defining opportunity for White. While Jaleel is always picking up acting gigs here and there, like a cameo in Adam Sandler’s new film “Hustle” he is also embarking on other ventures. Nowadays White’s cannabis business, itsPurpl, which is set to relaunch within the next year, is keeping him very busy.
