@@luyolomify that has nothing to do with it and not what he's saying. Get over yourself. People from other countries who speak on America talk like they're so vastly superior and more intelligent in every way. Which is a joke.
Rosie threw shade with that articulate backwards comment and Jaleel was so cool with his response. He really showed her up with his professionalism at such a young age. Miss those days. ..
I didn't get the impression that was shade. I think because he was so above average smooth, with his articulation and demeanor, I think that would catch anyone off guard and they would comment on it. Especially being used to his T.V. character. She adored him, it was a legit compliment.
It's very disrespectful. This is an unfortunate reality that black actors have to deal with when they achieve success in thier craft. It's a microagression that people use to undermine black actors, and not give them the respect they deserve. They aren't even trying to be racist. Well most people are, but Rosie isn't. As I know for a fact that Rosie doesn't have a racist bone in her body. She doesn't even realize she's doing it, and she means no harm. But by only calling him by his sitcom character, and not respectfully referring to him by his real name, it undermines him as a black actor, and the black excellence he is. She's not doing it on purpose. It's just been embedded in the culture that black actors don't deserve the same level of respect that white actors get, and she's doing it subconsciously. Will Smith was able to avoid this, because he played Will Smith on the Fresh Prince. Same with Kenan and Kel. But unfortunately the same isn't true for Jaleel White. Who is true black excellence.
I see exactly what you mean and you are correct. However, when referring to a person playing a character in a professional setting (television show in this case) the polite and professional thing to do would be to refer to him as his real name.
That reminds me of the movie "Big Fat Liar." Jaleel White had a cameo as himself in that movie, and he played an actor whom a movie director frequently referred to as "Urkel."
Can't believe I just binged watch Family Matters "2023" seasoned 1 to season 9. I 🩷the 90's. Can't believe I was 5 years old and today it's still something I enjoy watching. I🩷 the cast🥰
A visionary at an early age this one. Still a big Sonic the Hedgehog supporter to this day; I have both the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog tv series on dvd. He mentions in an interview on the dvd set that he didn't want Sonic to sound "black, white, or 'surfer', just hero". To grasp that at such an early age, and want to make that conscious decision for a world wide fan base is a huge contributing factor as to why I still enjoy the character, the franchise, and would like to thank him personally some day.
Jaleel White's Character, Steve Urkel was my Childhood Crush! He's Awesome Today As Well. He has a Beautiful Daughter. She is his Twin! Great Interview!❤
Joseph Colunga no, it’s not a “millennial” thing to comment. it’s just an ignorant ass comment. stop conflating every immature annoyance with “millennials.” jesus.
So much irony when Jaleel says, he's "playing a character, it's just a gig, you should know." Rosie played a character on her talk show that was a greater departure from her personality than Jaleel White was to his Steve Urkel character. Who is fooling who?
Hahaha I did the same thing!! Except it was because our candy machine broke and they never fixed it so I was straight hustlin" them bars! I went to Costco for my inventory.
This was Steve urkel when he was 20, Lord have mercy how the years have just flown by,now he is 46years old!!!! Love some Stefan ur kel!!!!💖💖💖😘😘💖💖💖💖😘😘🤩😍🌹🌹🌹🌹💖💖💜💜💜. This is typed by Chastity Lampkin.
His name is Jaleel White. Urkel was a character, and that's prolly why he was reluctant to be on the first time, but you gotta market yourself, so he had to do it.
You couldn't tell me Jaleel White wasn't my boyfriend back in the 1990s to the point my dad met him at a 100 Black Men Conference here in Charlotte back in 1994 when I was 8 and he told him what a fan I was of his and this was after he started becoming Stefan, so he told my dad he'd be playing in a charity tennis match the next day and to bring me by to meet him. I was so nervous that next morning cuz I had such a crush on him knowing how cool he was as Stefan and my dad told me he acts like Stefan in real life and not Urkel. Omg!! My mom made us breakfast and my older brother and my cousin who is the same age as Jaleel White were trying to hurry me up to finish eating so we could go meet him. I couldn't even eat my food that morning and I remember eating sausage and trying to chew it, but my stomach had butterflies and was in knots thinking about going to meet him. I took forever on purpose to eat my food to the point my dad said "we're not going". I was relieved (I was such a loser) and upset at the same time that I wasn't gonna be able to meet him. My big cousin was mad at me she liked him too. I've always regretted not going to meet him. I was painfully shy back then.
@@candacecasey5634 right. I don't think it was racial considering he was only 20 and most 20 yr olds aren't as well spoken and sure of themselves as Jello
@@disneytoysr4fun975 Most 20-year olds are in college, working young professionals, serving in our great military or recent high school grads.Yes, they are "well-spoken." They are adults. Stop calling black people "articulate" - it is a highly offensive term primarily used for Black people who dont speak with ebonics.
