Reminds me of when I worked in restaurants, one of the most important things was when a customer was about to pay, if there was nobody at the register we would be yelling cash up front until somebody got their butt up there to take the customer's money!
One time I was ordering food and the lady was acting like that and I said “you gotta bad attitude Ik this food is gonna be good” and the lady laughed and changed her tone
Best practice for real is just see what they got when you first walk in the door cause they slow, you will wait in a line with only 2 people in front of you for liiiiike 30 minutes…. Just to be told no we are out of everything you want!!!😂😂

Their food may be great, but their attitude is disgusting, so I stopped patronizing these ignorant places! I rather make my own at home, thanks to RU-vid university! 👏🏾👏🏾😆
i went on a date with a guy from jamaica and he said that his dream was to open a jamaican restaurant that staffs jamaican immigrates as cooks but only hires americans as the servers for this very reason 😭
I went to one only one time and was warned by the angry lady leaving about how she’s never met anyone so rude working in a restaurant… so when I went inside and the lady just stared at me, I said just bring me whatever you’d like, I’m happy to finally relax. She stared for a minute, yelled some words I didn’t really understand towards the back. Told me to go sit. Best meal ever 30 minutes later 😂
In my mind this works, in reality, I just know they are gonna point to the menu and ask if I can read😭and I be wanting that pattie far too badly to just walk away.
Well I'm cuban from Miami and I can say the same about cubanos. The older women sometimes have bad attitudes and talk loud and rude 😅 but I just shrug it off order my food pay and then get outta there!!
Honestly the best strategy I've found for the Jamaican places I've lived near is to just ask what they have that day. I feel like the menus are more like "Everything that might ever be served here" and not at all "What you can order here today".
I’m part Jamaican and I hate most Jamaican restaurants I’ve been to in the US (especially if there’s no auntie at the counter). There’s one in my black where I go with my white boyfriend and they treat him like a king and me like shit 😂😂😂
I come from a country that was occupied for centuries and we were second class citizens in our own land. We are also bad at service industries, and smiling at strangers all day like an idiot for no reason, like they are our good friend or something, rather than someone asking you to do something you would rather not be doing...I'm not saying its right, its just that i identify.

Say you've never had authentic Jamaican food without saying it. Say you've never seen the Soup Nxzi episode of Seinfeld where George continuously fails to order the soup right and get's "NO SOUP FOR YOU". If the food is that good, you cater to them to get it. Not the other way around.

yea my parents went to jamaica one time and the airport staff was terrible. one of the workers picked her nose in front of them, rolled it up, and rubbed it on her shirt.
I just ordered from a Jamaican restaurant a couple days ago and it was probably the best customer service I've had in a long time. The girl kept calling me baby, and reassuring me that everything I ordered was there she didn't pressure for a tip they were so friendly and they kept smiling. They were awesome
She ain't lying when they asked what my name for my order the lady aggressive asked "what dey name ya dat for?!" Everyone stopped eating and watched after that then she came to me talking nice 😂
I could say that about some people in any country. Don't generalise, the majority of Jamaicans are jovial and friendly. They shouldn't try to put everyone in the same boat. It is a personal experience!!! I also know these are not Jamaicans 🙄

For real! It's a NYC thing. I went to a Little Cesar's in Bklyn and nobody was behind the counter. I gently said, "Hello??" And this girl came out and just stared at me. So I said, "Hi, how are you?" .....Still the blank stare... so I just gave up and ordered my pizza. I love my city but dag!
Ive learned how to navigate getting a smile from my local jamaican shop....food be on point and after some years and patience they even started tellin me to ahv a goowd day . 😂
interesting. in my experience, some Jamaicans have an aversion to working, and bring their bad attitudes to the customer service desk. you can get good customer service, just ask for it. if it's not provided, then leave. that's what I've always done, even at the Chinese restaurants where their attitude many times rivals eastern europeans, and caribbeans
When they say no, ask them what have they got today, half expecting to walk out the door. I tend to go for places where you can see their warmup station only for that very reason.
This is why I stopped frequenting Jamaican restaurants coz this is legit my experiences every single time. I don't care if you're a black owned business, you ain't getting my money. Plenty of soul food restaurants out there with much nicer black grandmas/moms still running it; I'll support those instead.
Jamaicans are rude people. When you go to Vietnamese owned restaurants they are so friendly and ready to serve you. Of course they know in business that when you treat your customers well the more traffic and money it brings to your business
I have social anxiety and have been wanting to visit a jamaican place to try out oxtail and a couple other dishes💀 this just convinced me ill never be able to taste it 😭😂
They’re not acting like that bc they hate you specifically or something, keep in mind it’s like a cultural thing. Everyone has to prove themselves to earn respect(edit: as in, in their culture; I personally think it’s backwards. Maybe it’s a low trust high crime society)

When the customer asked if they had oxygen they made me giggle a little bit but after she said no made me burst out laughing and a little bit water came out my nose😂
I remember being lectured by a carribean lady in Publix bed I wanted extra mayo. They get crazy about portioned food and will jones you for eating too much 😂😂

@@jamaicanprincess4124 might be an exaggeration generally however there's plenty of people with an experience similar enough to this where it isn't an "exaggeration" to them. Sometimes they really are rude. Are Jamaican people rude in general? No not necessarily. However this is not uncommon at all

I’m gonna be honest, the Jamaican restaurant next to the college I went to everyone was so nice and sweet to me. Once the door on my van freaking fell off and some of the guys in the back helped me get it secured back to my car so I wouldn’t miss class!
