His work inspired me to think about the “Black Lives Matter” and I thought to myself as a victim of exclusion, “wow it must feel like the artist flashlight analogy in the life of a black person.” That grieves me that anyone would be treated as less and have to fear those who believe it’s their right to. All people where created and put here the same way with intent, by proof of their unique DNA. Spread the word!
At 1:04 and 3:09 you can see him scooping the paint directly out of the can and putting it on the canvas. Artist grade oil paints in cans come thick and gooey.
oil paint of good quality is thick and gooey, yes. like ape house said. if you want to achieve the same effect in acrylics use a „wall brush to remove dust“, in german called „painters dustremover“ - i hope this helps to find the right one - take as many of them as you need, mount or glue them on a piece of wood or whatever you have and mix a good quality black into heavy or extra heavy gel medium from amsterdam. finish the dish off with two coats of satin varnish. bon appetit. ir looks almost exactly like the oil version, at least the paint consistency and the effect is almost the same. i made both an oil and acrylics version as described, i couldn‘t see a big difference. of course oil will always be „deeper“, a little bit at least. in the sense of richness and perception of the material. hope this helps. stay safe and healthy.
I have just seen one of Murray video first time, a technique I have not seen before a light came on for me , it's like he rubbing out each stage it never happened ,, But what's the final stage what happens to the canvas what comes off?!
