This reminds me of my mom. She died a month ago. Even though I'm a grown woman with my own home and family, I always thought of her as my home. The place I could run to if my world fell apart. Now it feels like I'm walking a tightrope with no safety net. I'm also taking care of my mom's dog now, so seeing the dog in the video sleeping on her coat got to me. My mom's dog misses her and every time I bring in a box of her things to go through, she sniffs it because I know she smells my mom. Songs like these help because it lets you know you aren't alone. Other people have been where you are, feeling the emotions you are, suffering the pain that you are. There's comfort in knowing that someone understands your pain.

This song really got me crying myself out. The way he was left behind, feeling lonely, feeling broken, feeling the voidness, the emptiness of love, left by the love of his life, the way the dog was presented in the video, tell a brokenness of taking care a pet alone, when before you had taken care of it together. Here, I pretty much can relate to this song. Although the love of my life leave me due to our fail relationship, the aching heart somehow still and did killed me slowly. She left, she shut me down, she broke me, when all I did was love her with all my heart, but I guess she just doesn't feel the same. When she left, she left me with our hamster pet Angelo, she tore me apart every time I look at our Angelo, she cut me open every time I unconsciously recalled our memories especially the moment of bonding closer with the pet of ours. And when our little Angelo died, a bit of myself died too. The cooking, the search of lipstick stain, the clothes.. All of them, I can relate to. I used to cry thinking how may I bury our 2 years memories full of closure and intimacy. I still remember your voice and the way you sound, I still remember the smell of your cooking, I still remember the smell of your clothes, I still remember the taste of your lipstick, the taste of your lips. I barely can move on. I barely can breathe, I feel like dying. But, that's few months ago. Now, I had recovered slowly. It's sad, and I admit it's not easy. I admit I loved you with all my heart. I still do though, but not as much as I used to. I loved you as in the term of caring for you. Caring for you as the person who teaches me so many things, someone who I once, used to share my life with. Now, I'm happy if you're happy. I wish the best for you, I wish for your heart may never get broken like mine, because for sure, it hurts to the core, feels like it killed you. Lets move on like everybody did. I love how no matter what James writes, he always make a songs with words so powerful and raw and everyone can relate to it. Sometimes so much to the point they start crying. And not only that, he doesn't make songs just for the hell of it leading the song to have so much emotion in it having people feeling feelings they have haven't even experienced yet. James Arthur is so underrated and I crave for the day that more people know who he is and I hear him playing on the radio all the time like they be playing all these trash ass song. This is REAL music and I love and appreciate it and James. I love you and your music. You never fail to impress me.

I was introduced to this song by one of the closest persons to me right around the song had released, and I had moved to a new country. It has been almost 5 years, and I keep coming back to this song once in a while, although that person is not in my life anymore, I think the meaning conveyed through this song stays with me forever, also, if anything, the meaning only accentuates with time and more playbacks of this masterpiece.
