Backstage at Eric Clapton's 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival, James Bay talks with us about the impact of hearing "Layla" for the first time, his dream of getting to play the Crossroads Festival since he was 13, and how his acoustic/electric playing style is perfectly expressed through the Epiphone Century archtop electric guitar.

I met James in the elevator at the "Fairmont Hotel" in Dallas, where we lived during the "Crossroads Guitar Festival 2019" as well as he did. He is a handsome, lovely guy and a brillant guitar player.

I did not know who James Bay was until this video. Great that Eric and the Crossroads Festival gives players like James some exposure. The guitar he is playing is very cool and has a great tone to it. He is very wise for his years, seems very grounded and content, and wants to keep learning and exploring. His tone and touch were exceptional in this video. I will definitely keep an eye on this fellow and his music and would like to try out one of those Epi Century's. Thanks for the video!

@@PaddysPlayHouse i have figured that out now in my research. Not sure why i had overlooked or missed him. I like to think i keep current with what is happening in music but a lot of new music i don't really care for that much. Glad to see artists like him who use the guitar as the basis of everything they do and are bringing guitar music back into the limelight. Pretty cool.

If Layla was your original inspiration, then those accolades should rightly go to the Legendary Duane Allman. Duane played all the lead guitars on Layla, NOT Clapton. One of the most beautiful songs, ever.

Not true, They played it all together, Clapton overdubbed 4 different guitar parts after playing the high and low riffs and rythm. Duane played the main slide part.
