This guy can make any cover epic. You can think of any voice, male or female in the original, just give James Bay a song and he will pull the best essence out of it.
Sounds more like a love song than an anthem that the original had become. I enjoyed it anyway:) I also love how Noel smiles at James like he's watching a little kid but concentrates on his performance at the same time.

In Blackbird by the Beatles, Paul McCartney made the guitar dominate the song, with Noel Gallagher he made his voice dominate the song, with this guy he emphasized the guitar and also really used his voice, your 100% right

Bay has cajones of steel. Imagine performing in front of the writer of the song and singing it so perfectly without a hint of fear in his voice. Noel was also a class act by turning away from him to make it easier for him. What an awesome vibe.
I liked this cover, it is a proper cover, totally reconstructed and very melodic. I think Noel enjoyed it a lot too, he is not one for dishing out too much praise.
Craig Longmuir he’s playing with 10ths which is his style (Let it go, hold back the river, etc.). There’s not many artists that use 10ths as frequently as James Bay (RHCP and Ed Sheeran sometimes use them)

James Bays cover was such a Lovely version and I will be listening to this on repeat for the next couple of months. 🤗. This is why I love covers so much because it brings a new life, and a new audience to a song that some of the younger people maybe never heard before. I remember hearing this when it went out, had a bit of a tear in my eye from such a beautiful rendition, then Noel goes full Gallagher with the thousand topless me comment and all was normal again. Amazing on all fronts.

Both Gallagher’s have a wicked sense of humour. Tbh both could be in a comedian in good mood. I’m a late 90s baby, so only seeing interviews now and I never really got that from people talking about them.
In my opinion he did a great version, making it his. And respect to Noel for not making it awkward and encouraging James. I thought it was a nice touch for Noel to not look directly at James during the performance. That would have sucked the confidence out of anyone.
James Bay might have been so nervous that Noel Gallagher was there in the DJ's Booth with him. It must have been nerve wracking to have performed his cover version in front of the original band member. It was so pleasing to the ears.
Love how Noel has the respect to turn away as James performs so not to add to the pressure, and the fact that he doesn’t shower him with compliments just shows that he actually did like it rather than being over complimentary to hide the fact it wasn’t to his taste.
