"he's not even close to the 1st to use these wide interval shapes in a pop tune"-- none of the music is made by a machine, so im not sure why your referring to his music as pop. Also the interval may be common, but a lot of musicians dont even fingerstyle. I doubt the the strokes use anything other than their pick; but if they do use three fingers the way james does, please let me know. The Strokes Reptilia is easy to play, it requires no use of fingerstyle technique. The Strokes are more pop than he is. Their music is basic as hell and super easy to play.
