"The Blue Heeler" is taken from James Blundell's album "Hand It Down" and "I Shall Be Released: The Very Best of James Blundell". "I Shall Be Released: The Best of James Blundell" is available from iTunes: bit.ly/1Bi3anq
I have been searching for this for years, what a beautiful voice and such great music. I used to live on farms growing up and my parents played this song loads - I was surprised I still knew all the lyrics. It's crazy that my generation these days misses such amazing music (I'm a 1988 kid) - you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl :)
Stevie Marie thanks for your great message & love that you know all the words to the song! Hope you like my new album coming at the end of July also :) Cheers.
Living in Tennessee, I was watching CMT all the time in the early 90s and I remember well the first time I saw this video in 1991 and I was hooked from the first listen, what a great song ..... Then came the next single, "Time on His Hands", which was just as good. I knew I had to hunt the album down and I did, and managed to find several more James Blundell import CDs in Nashville over the next few years. I've found & played "The Blue Heeler", "Water" & "Age of Grace", three out of my four favorite songs on HAND IT DOWN. So where is "Time on His Hands", since I also remember that video ???
+Nash Burnette thanks Nash ... we're uncovering all the old videos at the moment so hope to have Time on His Hands up soon. Hope you like the new tunes also mate "Come On In" is out now ... have a listen on iTunes and let me know what you think.
That's great news, James, and thank you for sparing some of your limited time to respond to me. I was wondering, when HAND IT DOWN was released here in the U.S. in 1991, did you tour for the album here? ...... With the C.M.T. exposure and HAND IT DOWN being such a great album, did Capitol just not care enough to work the album ? ..... Country radio didn't seem to do you any favors here either. I had to travel two hours away to Nashville to find a copy of HAND IT DOWN, and in other Nashville trips over the next few years I was lucky enough to find the Australian releases of JAMES BLUNDELL (( great Sam Cooke cover of "Another Saturday Night" )) ..... the 1990 Australian release of HAND IT DOWN ..... THIS ROAD ..... TOUCH OF WATER ..... and EARTH & SEA. Someone is to blame for HAND IT DOWN being ignored and not being huge here, which would have allowed your future releases to also be released here.
This video was played every morning before I was out the door to school. I had no idea until he as interviewed that he was an AUSSIE and that it was about a Aussie breed of dog!! :D
As a roadtrain driver with my ex partner..we passed through Kynuna but never got to stop. :( I did a lot of singing in pubs back then & fell in lust with you when that album came out. You're still a darn hottie today mate & still sounding amazing. Thanks for the soundtrack to some amazing life experiences.
No, sweetie I gave up when I had my son who is now 20. Would love to still be doing it but its a different ball game now. Still have a lot of friends out there driving. I stick to singing :) cheers
You are most welcome. Love your music. If you ever need any help with video work, just ask. I wouldn't charge a thing. I wish you the greatest of fortunes in your life (doesn't mean money lol).

James, Amazing video and songs. I'm a fan from over 20 years ago when I worked at a radio station in Oregon, USA. How do I get ahold of broadcast quality of these video's in the states. I have a music video show in Oregon and would love to play your videos now !
