Yes that is his dad. Someone else will fill in the details. His dad needed a transplant but no one was a match. This was a goodbye song. I believe it was based on a poem his sister wrote. After the song a distant relative turned up as a transplant match. His dad survived. Did you see at the very end of the song his dad pats his arm? That gets me every time.

Fran, I relate to this tune from James. I'm 56 now, and my dad died in my arms receiving CPR from me age 14.!!! He had an instant heart attack, so i didn't get to do the good by bit.!! Great reaction 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧👍👍🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

I'm usually a hard rock fan. But I once watched him live on tv. James Blunt was officer in the british army, who actually fought in a war. That movie, where he is jumping off a cliff is actually him. not a double. He must have gone through a lot, that us regular folks would be scared to even hear about. Pls listen to his song No Bravery. Bowing my head to this man! I'm german, but I did get the meaning: "he has been here" in those lyrics don't refer to a god or something: it is "the war", which has been there. Amazing lyrics! Greetings from the far north of Germany!

Hi Fran , a little different video this time, it was an emotional and heart-rending song but the ending ultimately uplifting ,it was brave of him to do this song and you have to admire him for doing it ,❤❤.

Congratulations for not crying I lost my dad when I was 5 and last year I lost 2 uncle's and my auntie and my step dad and that was his real dad

James blunt gets a lot of hate my favorite was someone had tweeted whatever happened to James Blunt he tweeted him back a photo of himself with 8 beautiful models 😂👍 The KLF had a song JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT which featured Tammy Wynette the 1st lady of country music the KLF were a dance music duo from Liverpool it's 1 of my favourite song's from the 90s
