Actually he did two complete shows by himself with his band, this one filmed in 1972 (shown in 1973), and 1974 (with the mustache), but there were also a few other performers that did the entire show with their band also..
AND VERY WELL DESERVED, I APPLAUD YOUR RECOGNITION, BUT BACK IN DA DAY DON WAS NOT OPEN TO RAP, BUT BEFORE HIS DEMISE " RIP " HE WAS ABLE TO WITTNESS HISTORY
@@roderickstockdale1678 What are you talking about? These appearances are not 1975 or later. He only did two complete shows one that he recorded late in 1972 when it aired it early 1973 and then the 1974 appearance with the mustache. He had the mustache from 1974 until 1978. I recorded them both on cassettes. And you can easily look up on line and it will tell you exactly when he appeared on soul train to do both shows.
Are you ready for the super brother he’s blackophonic .. I was lucky enough to see James brown in the seventies in London and it was mind blowing , he was at the height of his powers ,
Never seen him i saw war 1973 jb one of kind great band to god bless looking for positive vibes they cut loose covid tech and science like john stewart said could end everything get it together human race
If you've been hiding under a rock, then you need too bring yo'azz out and get into the groove, it's all about the funk and it's plenty of funk to pass on to the next level...
Absolute legend. The JBs, my Good Gaud, pioneers. I've never seen a band just 'get it'; their vibe, their ability to mesh, gel, compliment. Incredible era of music. This video doesn't have nearly enough views. Spread the vibe!
James Brown moving and grooving on time with the good foot! 👣👣👣🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️👣👣👣👣 he was the best Rhythm Master of all time!! Prince Micheal all the others . Sampled from this man and broke off on their own from this man James Brown was my first concert age 14 years old I totally begged my mom to see him after winning ticket on the radio it was the show of a life time for a kid. And James Brown let all the kids dance up front to me too! Yeah I have much respect for The true God Father of Soul✊✊✊ and legend always remembered give it up one more time for the man James Brown RIP! 🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯💯
DID YOU SEE THIS BROTHER on “Get on the Good Foot”??? He was thirty eight years...ahhh...forty years OLD dancing like that!!! This is the legend, LEGEND!!! No one held this!!! And note, no lip syncing for this brother on Soul Train!!!
He was really 43 years old believe it or not. Serious. Not 38 years old. JB was 40 years old in 1968! That is the God's honest truth. He was truly a super bad brother!
@@JustAThought155 he was born in 1928. You just don't know that. Take it from a South Carolinian. Get in touch with Maceo Parker you'll find out. James Brown was truly an amazing man!
@@edsmall2167 He was almost the same age as Bobby Byrd. The erroneous 1928 date came from another Janes Brown that was born in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1928. No credible source uses the 1928 date any more.
He was one of the most iconic and legendary performers of ALL TIME! No one could or will be able to imitate him. His career prime was a few years beforw my time but I would have done anything to see him live. R.I.P. Mr James Brown.
Stupidness young generation think Michael Jackson is better than James! The best dancer i ever seen is James, i'm 55 and play drums and btw his drummers were outstanding!!
Check out Danny Ray's intro for the Godfather in Africa for the Mohammad Ali fight. The "Rumble in the Jungle" against George Foreman 1974. The Godfather and his awesome band performs a "Soul Power" that is absolutely off the charts. Phenomenal.
James Brown...enough of a reason to quickly sub to this channel. Super Brother. Blackophonic. Good gawd y'all! Get it! Make it funky! Please please please I love you so! Say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud!
Great badass live footage and era of James Brown on Soul Train. My brothers and I use to watch Soul Train back in the '70s. First 45 ever bought at the young age of nine while growing up in the heart of San Francisco was James Brown - Sex Machine (Parts 1 & 2 on each side). Was heavily hooked since. customkey
Lip synch seems so plastic, them up there just moving but not real action. Did you see Aretha? She did 'Rock Steady' on soul train. Do you think she was singing live?
I always wondered why Bobby Byrd wasn’t with him on soul train, then realized this was after the incident that made Byrd walk away from him.... Too bad because Mr. Byrd was dynamic in his own right as well.... And Mr. Danny Ray was the only emcee to ever be as powerful on stage. He was a true Gem that world could never replace. God bless them all, including the band mates here that have passed on. I hope that in death they all find each other once again and continue to be the greats they were as they lived on earth.
I've never been clear on when/why Byrd left. What actually happened? The good news is that in 2001, they got together again to record "Killing Is Out, School Is In." Also, JB gave Bobby a shout-out in the 1975 re-recording of "Sex Machine.
@@modernretroradio993 according to the movie (not fully truthful according to his autobiography from the late 80’s /early 90’s found in old library archives.), when James told Bobby that he could’ve had Vickie Anderson if he wanted to.... And James constant mood swings and selfishness with the money, as well as a lot of song credits not being properly listed. Bobby and the other flames wrote a lot of those songs. But King records were only interested in him. There’s even documentation of the 5 royales suing James for using their songs “think.”
@@Jamaicanbaan31 I can certainly believe that. It is well documented that James Brown went on an outright plagiarism spree in the mid-'70s when he panicked because he was no longer the top dog commercially. He stole "JB's Monorail" from BT Express ("Express"); JB stole "Hot!" from David Bowie ("Fame"); he stole "Makin' Love" from Ohio Players ("Skin Tight"). He's still the Godfather, though. He was just highly over-self-protective and insecure at times.
'70s _Soul Train_ is forever superior. The generations before mine had it all _too_ good. This and the _Rumble in the Jungle_ performance in Zaire is top notch '70s JB.
Gimme them horns 🎷I remember ' 🔥 pants. Dance to James lose some pds.Godfather of Soul.Popcorn!!Cold Sweat!!!!Say it Loud His daughter is jamming with him.
at counter 23:55 tall girl hops on stage. Nice vibe..she's doing the early robot to Funk. She is doing it. She is kicking high, limber. OMG! She is Beautiful...I'm gonna be 70 years young next month. That get's me up before I go, go. Say it loud, I'm alive and I'm proud. Arigato Mr James. Soul Brother Number One. Ichiban.
I HAD A GREAT TIME SEEING HIM LIVE FREE AT MONTREAL VERY IMPRESSIVE ! WHEN HE YELL MAKE ME THINK ABOUT MY AUNT WAKING UP IN THE MORNING STRCHING HER BOONES AND.....HI! OUTCH !....HYAOUTCH ! ...😂
This is actually two episodes the first episode he doesn’t have a mustache was released in 1973 and the other episode where he has a mustache is from 1974.
From Tee Brooks to all of our favorite funk legends: "Investigate hip hop like I'm Columbo/ Culture and music mixed like Frogmore Stew or Gumbo/Kool Herc would Merry Go Round "The Get Down"/ No cueing, drop needle B boys never sit down/ Clyde Stubblefield for short I call'em CS/ Not DJ Khalid he really is the best/Jab'o and Clyde "Ain't take no mess"/Funky Drummer sampled a thousand times but I digress/the Funky Drummer break under pop, rock and rhymes/A couple rappers used it two or three times/ Since "It's a Demo" I would always wonder/JB hollering' at the band "Who is the Funky Drummer?"/ Clyde said the story aint really been told yet/ Clyde and Jab'o still got y'all in a "Cold Sweat"/ Break boys to Golden Age is based on JB/ On "I'm Real" James said it's time to pay me/ Funky Drummer always move your booty/ Thang funky as Catfish and Bootsy/69 on tha flo, Butterfly and Tootsie/
@@willhaynes2190 James Brown's act was so high energy, and he was so perceptive of the groove energy, that he would point to one drummer or the other when they became winded. I thought Jabo was The Man. It breaks my heart that James paid him little more than minimum wage, and then owed him money most of the time.
“I don’t know Karate but I know Karazy” Classic 😆 38:33 James Brown... legend...genius...composer... entertainer. This is where funk came from, the breaks, the horns, the drums, taking it to the bridge.
He had wisdom we was so busy dancing listen to the lyrics in funky president they hated jb but he had a powerful cacausion following they couldn't touch him
Yeah and it was his thoughts the rappers sample him more than anybody he should of never been broke and have to sell his radio stations couldn't find nobody to trust to run it how many people can u trust when it comes to money
Could some of James Brown's music be considered the beginnings of rap/hip-hop??? Take the song Papa Don't Take No Mess, if he brought out Biggie and Pac would they not "kill" the track while not changing the soul of the song?
Well..... not directly but they pushed music forward and created soul and elements of funk. Funk and rock and soul come together to make disco. A disco song (good times by chic) is used as the instrumental behind Rapper’s Delight, the first big rap song. Other people start rapping. So indirectly, he helped hip hop’s creation. And some of his songs are much like raps
I'M BIASED AS FUCK ABOUT THIS,SO FORGIVE ME IF YOU DISAGREE,BUT JAMES BROWN IS THE BADDEST BRUTHA MAN EVER.I KNOW MICHAEL AND PRINCE WERE BOTH GREAT,BUT IF YOU AROUND MY AGE 60 NOW,YOU KNOW EVERYBODY AFTER JAMES BROWN TOOK A LITTLE SOMETHING FROM JAMES BROWN,AND THAT INCLUDES PRINCE AND MICHAEL JACKSON.JAMES WAS THE ORIGINAL AND I'LL TAKE THE ORIGINAL ANYDAY AND ALL DAY.👍👍👍👍
The Soul Train "Say It Loud" is an epic performance, but the part when the band-member kept trying to retrieve JB's blazer -- and Brown kept switching shoulders -- is the funniest thing I've seen.
I don't get enough of ssssoooouullllll train 🥰❤️🖤💚 these are my beautiful and precious memories 🥰❤️🖤💚 thank you Mr/Brotha Don Cornelius, American Band Stand couldn't touch this, they gave away cars to try to convince people that they could hang with Soul Train but even that didn't work, I was a kid back then and an eye witness too🥰❤️🖤💚Soul Train will always be #1

Percussionist-vocalist Nathan(Executive Smooth)Hubbard, Jr. will be arriving next summer. Let the APA and AKAs. Have the stage ready. Tell Keyshia Cole don't her shoes in the audience.
James Brown; May 3, 1933 - December 25, 2006 For those who haven't noticed, this isn't one episode. It's a bunch of segments strung together. JB appeared on "Soul Train" February 10, 1973, February 17, 1973, May 5, 1973, and September 14, 1974.
I love all of James Browns live performances! He basically took over an entire show! The rare performer who was allowed to perform LIVE BAND on Soul Train
