Comey is likeable because he says a lot of reasonable things and seems sincere, and he seems smart. But when he announced that the Hillary investigation would be re-opened and then made harsh comments against Hillary, that showed that he was a deceptive and not-so-smart government official who is no different than others of that kind. There was no evidence of unlawful behavior in the reason he opened the Clinton investigation again, so he should have kept his mouth shut until he found something. He has very poor judgment and is still trying to write and talk his way out of a broken reputation. In 2024 he says strangers still insult him in the street for what he did. He deserves the permanent damage to his legacy.

Which is a tricky thing to navigate considering all of the things he was privy to that are classified, not able to be discussed due to active investigation(s), etc. - not an easy tightrope to walk. His book was vetted extensively by the FBI to ensure it did not contain any information that cannot be made public at the time of book release.
