As a grown man I'm not ashamed to say that I cried when I heard the passing of george. Beautiful tribute and he will always be missed and his life will carry on in his music ❤
So did I and seeing and hearing songs of him sometimes still makes me cry. He was such an awesome singer and human being. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen him live and he really was an unbelievable talented guy.
George Michael passing away on Christmas was one of the most painful times I've ever experienced. Still I tear up thinking of the immense loss to the world of music. Miss you George
You are very blessed. If the death of the beloved George Michael was the worst you experienced, than you have had a blessed life so far. Hope you carry on being a light-cross-carrier for ever.
George Michael was an EXTRAORDINARY human being. A brilliant artist, by all accounts incredibly kind, incredibly honest as an artist and man. We lost him WAY too soon...
@@morgana7893 I miss him, too, in no small part because he was a constantly evolving artist, and man. I was ALWAYS moved by him, in his music, or in interviews as he talked about things in general. A fascinating guy, and no doubt there was a ripple in The Force at his passing...
To all American viewers - Red Nose Day is part of a charity called Comic Relief, where people wear red nose badges to support the event. The last event in 2015 raised around £78 Million ($96 Million) on the night. And since it was founded in 1985, the charity in the UK has raised in total £1,047,083,706 (around $1.3 Billion) for disadvantaged people in the United Kingdom and Africa. So it is something we brits are proud of actually. The next event will be held in March this year 2017.
Yes, you do, but Comic Relief is a British charity. In America they raised the equivalent of £18 million, which is nothing compared with the £78 million raised by the U.K., especially when you take into consideration population and wealth. Does the US have a different version, as in a day where TV is devoted to a particular charity and everyone fundraises for it? All the kids celebrate it and do what they can to contribute? It would be cool if you did...
And 90% of it goes straight back into the governments funds each year while the children continue to be abused and starve. You really think if we were raising 77 million pounds a year there wouldn't be a dramatic decrease disadvantaged children in the U.K. And Africa. Same goes for cancer research. We are only funding the government but U.K. Are blind to it
well said, OXFAM been asking for money since i was a kid for wells, always wondered why there still got no water sytem money theu must of raised over the years , but then you see on charity shop door manager wanted 30k plus bonuses you realise its a sham
My father was a roadie for George Michael some years ago, and I will always be grateful to him for giving me the chance to meet George in person. I was 12 years old at the time, and I saw George backstage. He immediatly turned his attention to me as my father introduced. Despite the fact that there were tons of people present in the room, and many journalists wanted his attention, he spend almost 20 minutes talking to me! And though I was nervous, he just smiled and kept asking me about my musical preferences and stuff. I got to tell him that "Bad Boys" was my favorite song of his, and he was happy to hear that. He thought it was refreshing, since most people always said "Faith" or "Wake Me Up". 🙌 I will always remember him, and will never forget how he reserved time for an annoying little kid he didn't know at all. But it also makes his death that much harder to cope with. R.I.P Legend 😢
Word Unheard Thanks man. It's so rare that these superstars are like you imagine them in real life... but George really was just as we all think he is. My father have worked with many celeb musicians, and he always said that George was one of the most comfortable artists to work with -He would always hang out and dine with the crew ;)
That a beautiful story, George Micheal is one of the reasons I got into singing and the first album I ever bought was "Faith', This man will be always be remembered for passion and soul he had for his music.
Word Unheard Thanks for the kind words. I've always respected my father immensely for having brought me into his work. I mean, the koncert-business is a very darkened world most of the time, and most roadies keep it separated from family and so on. But he said that he didn't wanna miss out on my childhood, so he always brought me along when there was time. He said he wanted me to know every side of the music-business, and that he wanted to make sure I got a great musical "education" .I'd like to think I succeeded there ;)
I remember meeting George Michael in our price which was a record store in Gatwick Airport he was the nicest and kindest guy I have ever met will never forget him r i p George
George Michael wasnt only one of the world's very best voices, he was also very humble and Human. The sense of loss, and void is still overwhelming to this day, just thinking he is no longer amongst us. we are left with his body of work however it is only a glimpse of the great person he was.
Jamie Caslin How about he was just a great fucking artist, is that reason enough? What exactly were Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart and Mariah Carey promoting when they did carpool karaoke?
Jamie Caslin They were promoting themselves to stay famous?? There has to be one of the dumbest comment I've ever seen. They were the first ones to do carpool karaoke, and James Corden didn't have the ratings that he does today. So doing The Late, Late Show when James Corden took over was not a boost to anyone's career.
I've never seen this before, but I'm a lamb and I had a feeling she had said something along those lines before I actually watched this. She has mad respect for George Michael, and many other artists that came before her.
George was never a joke to anyone who loved him. Whether you loved him for his music, and never met him, you knew he wasn't some egotistical pop star. George felt deeply and cared about people. All the generous giving he did to strangers was done on the down low. He gave his time and wealth to people he wanted to help and thank. I love George for his gentle soul. You can tell when he was hurt, and it was so sad to see him so hurt. It feels like it's been so much more than 4 years since he's past. I wish there had been a tribute in his honor, by artists. It's wrong that there wasn't a tribute by musicians around the world to celebrate his life. I hope one day there will be.
i grew up listening to 80s music ( best ) and Wham was part of it , then George went solo in his career and made some fantastic songs that he wrote himself , his songs and other 80s music takes me back to a time when life was better and im sure other people feel that way too
George Michael played a HUGE role in molding the 1980's into the legacy that it is today for so many of us Generation X kids. It would not have been the same without his music and talent.
I so loved George Michael! My favourite musical artists are British and James is quite right when he says that you felt as if George was reaching out to you as you listened to his songs. May he rest in peace.
Oh George... what a sweet and kind soul he was, he never deserved that media hate, and the fact that he died alone on Christmas day and was only found in the afternoon, while the most of us were having fun, hurts so much... And he gave us a lot of joy with his incredible music, he kept so positive when many were against him, and he helped so many who were in need... What a man.
sarahsmith182 MrRamziaB And now you can watch my extremely in depth review on rogue one in my amazing robot voice... if you choose not to... YOU SHALL PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE
people outcasted him, made fun of him and cursed him out during the last several years of his life. it is a shame and very two-faced for them now to say ''he was great''. Who gives a shit about what people say after they pass away !!! We should respect, embrace, love and realize their talents when they are alive...
This couldn't have resonated more with me. I feel exactly what Corden felt, listening to George's songs. Songs like One More Try, Where Did Your Heart Go, etc. - you just feel a connection with George himself that makes you feel like you weren't alone anymore and knew what to say to get you believing again. Being gay myself, An Easier Affair struck an even deeper chord. He's the reason why I sing the way that I do - I use his breathing patterns and in public karaoke I even do his accent when I sing his songs lol. I still miss him today. Here I am, it's nearly midnight, searching for RU-vid videos about him and watching this. Thanks for saying what you said, James. Sharing this George Michael connection with you is ever lasting. Love your show! And a special thank you to George Michael for sharing his passion with all of us.
Sept 2020 and it still breaks my heart that he's gone. First time hearing Fastlove after his death I broke down, in floods of tears knowing I'd never see, hear George again. Such a beautiful soul taken too soon. You're sorely missed, George. Sleep well, lovely man.
@DaveraveAndMadonna81, absolutely great song....Different Corner, Where did your heart go, and George's version of Long & Winding Road can take me down in a few notes....
I know that everyone here in the UK and who's a fan of this show knew there was a connection with George Michael and the creation and comeuppance of Carpool Karaoke, I don't know how well that was known in the states but now you all know! I remember when that sketch aired back in 2011 I was pissing myself laughing :D
Robert Cornelius The "world of information" 2 questions: 1)What the fuck is the "world of information"? 2)What the fuck does James Corden being in a British sitcom and Red Nose Day show have to do with this information? I'm assuming from your ignorance you a yank, so go back to your Police force to use some of your brutalness up
I had the privilege to see George in concert TWICE, he was AMAZING, I was right at the front of the stage, worth every penny. Not to mention too the amazing work he did for different charities. Bless you George. Still listen to your beautiful music and I miss that incredible voice. R I P George, miss you always xxx
Great tribute. George was not only a genius at music but more importantly a really sound man. He had a spirituality about him that cam through in all his songs.
I will NEVER EVER get tired of seeing this. Every time I watch Carpool Karaoke I always think of this one, brief though it may be. Sadly missed but forever remembered, thank you George for all your music and for being such a part of my teenage years in the ‘80s 🙏🏼🕯
every christmas day , I always think about him, he and Elton have always been my favourite singers and also Adam Lambert and Queen but George you are something special.
Oh, what a great story. I had read that Mariah was the first to agree to do CK, but I had no idea that this is really where it all started. RIP George, we love you.
What I find even more wonderful about George Michael, was how charitable he was! He would give $1000s to people he didn't even know, out of the blue, just because he saw them on tv or heard about them somehow, needing money for something important, like surgery or some treatment! And he did most of it without anyone knowing about it! Like working at a soup kitchen, and telling those who ran it, not to tell anyone! So you know he did this stuff out of the kindness of his heart, not for attention, like many famous people do!
It's only coming out now that he's no longer around to stop them telling everyone how generous he was. They reckon he gave a sizeable chunk of his fortune away to needy causes masquerading as 'an anonymous businessman'.
Clara Johnson He was just a natural talent and he new if he gave to people and charities knowingly some shallow and jealous people would just think it was for some other reason other than the fact he really had a heart of gold and actually cared which nowadays is very rare .Lets hope some of those multi milionaire footballers are doing the same R.I.P GEORGE YOUR A LEGEND PAL
Do any British people here remember that comic relief special, I remember watching it when it came out. It had a load of celebrities sat around a table later, that's all I can remember.
Robert Cornelius ..i would love to have a muslim if he felt the same for me..i have muslim friends and i have all culture friends that i like very much..stay out of my right to free speech and if u cant read my writing..boo whoo whoo..gd for me..ole chap
I was vacationing with my children in Washington DC. The children were in the indoor swimming pool and I was enjoying a glass of wine, watching the news on my phone. It was breaking news. George Michael Dead. I started crying. I will never forget how sad I was. Not just for myself, but for the entire world. I knew that he was a shooting star and way ahead of his time. He was a beautiful, talented and gifted human being. There will never be another like him. Ever. The world lost a legend. All these years later, it still breaks my heart. Rest in peace Yiorgos. Your memory will be eternal 🙏✝️🕯️
I saw this years ago and fell in love with it. The fact they're wearing the same outfit is brilliant. "Don't put your sad face on!" lol I can honestly say I cried when I heard of his passing. I've always felt that George has a song for every emotion or situation in life, and his music certainly helped me countless times. RIP, superstar and thank you, James for honoring him.
This was probably the most beautiful tribute which I have ever heard. So real and unprepared. It just came from James' heart. I saw this years ago. They've always had great ideas and George was and still is a legend. RIP x
Such a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. He discreetly helped so many people without drawing attention to himself, was such a kind, loving and generous soul xx
watched it a number of times back then, think i may have been late back to class on one occasion because me and my mates were sitting there watching haha.
Really touching and heartfelt words from James about George's passing. One of our finest singer songwriters and a beautiful human being too. RIP George.
George is the love of my life. He was there for me through everything. My father’s death hit me hard and Jesus To A Child was like therapy for me in those dark days. When I was a teenager Wham! songs were my energy release. And when I loved someone he expressed my feelings in his songs. I grew up with him and his art. That’s what he means to many of my generation. His voice was sublime live or in a studio. Song writing and production talents were one of the best ever. His honesty and open heart made us get everything he did and feel it. RIP GM.
James I can't begin to explain just how much I loved receiving this message. You spoke from the heart those word's will always remain embedded in my soul. 💚
I work opposite where George Micheal lives in Goring where he passed away and there are still people coming down to lay flowers was talking to some people who came all the way down from Ireland, America, Scotland and loads of other countries just to pay their respects to George it's so lovely to see there are thousands of flowers still there and that's after the rotten ones have been taken away they're still being replaced with new ones from people who loved him! RIP George you were loved! ❤️
The Soundtrack to my life. George's music spoke to me at so many different periods of my life. Loved Wham and The Dance/Pop of Faith. But, Listening Without Prejudice, Older, and Patience just crushed me. Incredible songwriting and emotion. Always loved this man, despite all the demons he was facing through the years. I thought, eventually he would be happy and start making music again. A week before his death, I was actually talking to my wife about him. How I was excited to know he would be making a comeback in 2017 and hopefully touring in support. When I heard the news on Christmas, I was not shocked, but I was feeling deep sadness. George Michael's talent was rare. The voice of an angel, words that affect your mind and heart, and from what I've heard a humble, giving soul. He will be truly missed.
it's so sad if makes you want to cry, but when you listen to them singing it make you smile and inside your heart is broken because you feel the sadness of losing the person you've listened to for you hole life. I think you can't help smiling and singing along when you hear a George Michael song because you know he enjoyed making his music for everyone to listen too. R.I.P George
George Michael is such a legend man, it’s a shame that they cut out the bit from the sketch where he calls smithy and ‘gav-lar’ closet bummers 😂 not just a music legend but a comedy legend
What a lovely heartfelt tribute. I didn't realise their great Red Nose sketch was the origin of carpool karaoke. As James said, George was the soundtrack to my youth. Such a nice man. RIP George.
George Michael was a part of our growing up. I will miss him, thankfully we have his music. James, thank you for letting the world know how much he will be missed.
When I found out he passed, I had a breakdown I went into the living room put on all his songs my three kids endured my sadness but they were well aware how much I loved him and they understood it. We basically spent hours listening to his music and I cried the whole time. He is still my favorite. When I was a little girl 11 yrs old in Portugal I fell in love with Wham! George has the voice of an angel... that love remains...
What a man he was!,I live in the billings where George died and even now nearly a year on there are fresh flowers placed outside the house every morning when I leave for work, sadly missed rip George x
It's one of the most intense moments of sadness that the world has witnessed because he was on the verge of a comeback and now we are only left to wonder what kind of creativity would have flown from studio and onto the airwaves. He is the only reason I really listened to 80s ballads. George Michael opened the door for Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Billy Ocean and even Elton John getting their ballads taken seriously. I bet he would have had George on more times if he knew this untimely event was going to take place.
Jack Daniels-Son So true. He was working on a documentary AND had reached out to former Wham! members about FINALLY reuniting & doing a tour. I was ECSTATIC. Now I'm devastated. the same thing happened to Michael Jackson. He was rehearsing for his big comeback tour.
Such a kind hearted down to earth and funny man, as well as a immense performer, we all miss you George, Thankyou For everything. We miss you forever. Rest in peace Legend xxx
I completely agree with James regarding the "healing power" of George Michaels music. It has comforted me so often in my life and let me came back stronger than before. Thank you so much for this post, James! To George: You and your music were forged for eternity...
James Corden is so amazing! He is so sensitive and has a fabulous character.James can show feelings and he is funny too....Thank you James and I see you are full in your memories and totally sad too.You have a big heart and the Carpool Karaoke with George Michael was so funny...RIP George
I grew up listening to George he was part of my daily life and as a man I'm proud to say that while my other mates were listening to heavy metal in the 80 s i was listening to careles whisper instead. Georges music will be frozen in time forever for millions of us and allways in our hearts. Rest peacefully now my friend your time here with us will never be forgotten
***** oh, that is poetic justice!!! George Michael was the first carpool karaoke! :-) It became so popular that James was able to invite Adele and Elton John.
I remember the first time I ever heard Careless Whisper - I walked around the whole School telling everyone that George Michael's new Song would become an absolute Hit. Most of the Kids just nodded as none of them had heard the Song yet - but how right I was about that song. I remember those Years with fond Memories.
Incredible song. He hated himself so much for something that he couldn't help. That's so sad. He was gorgeous and amazingly talented. R. I. P. George Michael may you get the peace that you never never knew in life!
it honestly tears me apart to see how people will react after someone's passing. it really reminds me to really treasure life and know that you will impact people in your lifetime no matter what. Do your very best and don't ever feel like giving up just because it is tough. hugs and love from me to you !
I feel like George Michael & I kind of grew up together despite never meeting. His music was the soundtrack of my young adulthood & my love for him never waned as the decades passed. I felt his death almost as keenly as if he were a family member. I miss him still.
