Jimmy was a force of nature, both angelic and disturbing, vulnerable yet so distant... Made of contradictions, his emotional pain always exposed on the screen - rarely can you see an actor so bare and engaged in his performance. He was so ahead of his time, his acting style often clashed with the rest of the cast unable to match his truth. Losing him is not only a great tragedy for the world of film, but a loss of a rare human being that could've contributed to society in so many ways. James had a passion for art, music, directing, he was truly curious about other people/lifestyles, and noticed unusual things that many usually ignore. That's why The Little Prince book resonated so much with him. His sudden death was utterly cruel and heartbreaking, considering how happy and hopeful he was that day... I hope there's an alternate reality where Jimmy survived and lived the life he truly wanted and deserved...

Wow, what a beautiful tribute what an awesome emotional ode you gave …I wish I was as adept as you, bravo you are so right on … what really bothers me is when they start saying he was gay or whatever I don’t believe that ..not that it matters, but I just have a feeling!

Yep. A lot of the early roles that Paul Newman got were originally intended for James Dean before his death in 1955.

American Film Institute left East of Eden off the list of the 100 best American films of all time. In regard only appear Giant and Rebel Without a Cause. The same happens in other relationships with less prestige but which serve as a reference for many moviegoers as The 1000 movies you must see before you die. I think these selections do not correspond to reality or to think that the general public. East of Eden is the best of the three films and also the best work of James Dean. The actor has worked on over 30 productions on TV and also starred on Broadway, but was in the role of Caleb Trask Dean became a star. His interpretation provocative, innovative and visceral, thanks in part to the text and the direction of Elia Kazan, was a milestone in the history of cinema.

In '88, I went to Rt 466. You can see for miles. I wonder if the guy in the other car had macular degeneration and couldn't see him. He was much more than people realize. He was multifaceted, smart, searching for perfection in everything he did, capricious, intense and a great athlete.

@@DH_ArtistGOOD POINT! Probably because Turnipseed WAS speeding and maybe his car was loud. The Porsche blended into the highway and land and sat real low. It was supposedly getting dusky and the sun was in Jimmy's eyes. I think he had his glasses on because he couldn't see well.

The quote from Dean was something to the effect of, when asked about his social life and his love life. He spoke very passionately about his connections with both men & women he said that he doesn't think he'd be able to go through life with "one hand tied behiond my back". Thing like this statement are no different than the way others have spoken about relationships (Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joan Crawford, Marilyn Monroe, among others). Anyway, I don't think it really matters

James Dean came across as a tortured and misunderstood soul; an outsider looking for a place to fit in and be valued and loved. The fact that this man, a talented, successful and handsome actor went to watch bullfights doesn't quite fit with this persona. Bullfighting is not a fight at all, but the ritual torture killing of a frightened creature by a group of thugs.Bulls are tortured 2 days prior to the fight. They are kept in a dark boxes for 2 day to disorientate them; vaseline is smeared in their eyes to half blind them, they are fed laxatives and salt water to dehydrate them, pins are stuck in their genitals and their bones are broken. When they enter the ring they think their ordeal is over and they are running to freedom - instead face a jeering crowd, baying for their blood. Men on horseback named picadors plunge spears into their neck muscles to weaken them. Then men plunge baderillas (brightly coloures spears) into them. The matador kills the bull at the end by stabbing him in the neck - the bull vomits blood. The dead bull is dragged away by horses. Horses enter the bullrings pouring with sweat and trembling with fear. They are blindfolded, cotton wool is stuffed in their ears and noses and their vocal chords are cut so they are unable to scream in pain if they are gored. They are deprived of all their senses. Horses are often gored by the bull; their are times when their intestines fall out of their stomachs and hang around their legs. Their intestines are crudely stitched back in. Horses in bullrings are old and have come to the end of their working lives; their reward for serving man faithfully and uncomplainingly is to end their days in the bullring. Bulls are not aggressive creatures and only fight back because they have been tortured. I believe that any person who can take pleasure in watching such groteque cruelty must have something seriously mentally wrong with them. It is ironic that Mr Dean died a horrific death in the car accident, his body broken and bloody. An end similar to that of the bulls he watched getting killed. Dean did not die immedately so would no doubt have suffered before he did die. I can't say that I feel sorry for this man. Donald Turnupseed did not intentionally kill Dean - the bulls are intentionally tortured and killed by matadors. I believe in the afterlife Dean came face to face with the bulls he watched being tortured and killed and came face to face with the pain he caused.

@Hannah Freeborn I don't see how the fact that James Dean got off on watching animals being tortured to death is irrelevant. That is like saying if Dean had been a rapist, had beat up women or was a paedophile, this would be irrelevant. Cruelty is cruelty no matter whether the victim is a human or non human. Where there are spectators and a victim there is a crucifixion. There is a recognized link between those who harm animals who are likely to go on to harm humans. www.peta.org/issues/animal-companion-issues/animal-companion-factsheets/animal-abuse-human-abuse-partners-crime/

@@susangavaghan i think you are being a bit harsh on James Dean. Yes, he claimed he wanted to be a bullfighter. You must remember hecwas just 24 when he died. Still maturing, also I have read many Dean Biographies and everyone states that the truth is that Dean never actually saw a live bullfight in his life. Anything he knew of them he was either told from someonecwho had seen one or what he read in books...romantic tales of the bullfighter, not the bull. Considering how we see Real pictures of Dean on the farm in Fairmount and how tender he was with the farm animals, his dog Tuck, whose wellbeing he asked about whenever he wrote home, as well as how lovingly he took care of his horse Cisco, i really think that his desire to become a bullfighter would have abruptly ended if when he discovered what cruelty was inflicted on the bull. It's a known documented fact that Dean loved animals.
@sharonzimmerman5558
@sharonzimmerman5558 5 лет назад
@@susangavaghan P,S. If you read any James Dean biographies, he was at times kinder to animals than he was to people. But, Dean is also quoted as saying that he preferred animals to people because animals didn't judge you and loved you unconditionally. Does this sound like someone who "got off on seeing bulls tortured "? oh, he also looked at Billy the Kid as a hero figure. All this tells me is that he was a young man who hadn't yet outgrown childish romantic fantasies. But, I feel had he lived to maturity, he would have.

a truly disgusting and inhuman comment...i'm sorry to disappoint you but he was immediately knocked unconscious by the shock of a broken back and face/ribs being crushed, he didn't suffer at all. i'm sorry that the lack of suffering on his part will sadden you. may God forgive you
@susangavaghan
@susangavaghan 3 года назад
@@marcokite I see animal abuse in exactly the same way I see the abuse of human beings. If Dean had gone to watch human beings being tortured to death, would you still feel the same way? Shortly after matador Victor Barrio was killed by a bull in 2016, I campaigned on this issue, pointing out that Barrio deserved no sympathy. One night I was awakened by his spirit crying out from the bottom of a long black hole 'I was wrong'. Campaigning against animal abuse, as well as all forms of abuse, is doing God's work.
