Yeah, but u have to remember a lot of these collectors have inherited wealth and rich patrimony, AND bought these watches when they were still within reach of the middle class...

@@redatticus7606 One person who didn't inherit his wealth, someone who has purchased loads of watches. Not really a watch collector, but 'Roman Sharf'. There are loads of other people who have got into collecting watches, and for no 'investment' reason, and don't come from wealthy families. That includes me. I am a self made person, I have a big watch collection. With some extremely valuable watches , and I love my Hamilton Khaki Pilot poineer, a era correct 33mm military watch, I recently purchased, just as much as my 'feet first' Red label Vintage Submariner. I get good deals from Authorised Dealers too, no grey market with my new watches. Obviously this doesn't include Rolex Stainless steel professional sports models. Luckily I got my Rolex watches before this crazy current situation. I love all my watches, and I really don't care what they may be worth in the future. My children will be looked after, but I will encourage them to keep my watch collection between them. Having said that, I am also completely fine if they prefer to sell my collection. I think there are plenty of watch collectors who do it because they love watches and the value is irrelevant. I personally don't judge my watches as investments, just something I enjoy collecting.

OPnoob I made the same comment on his last interview. Apparently they aren’t shades. It’s a growth on his head and he can’t remove them. He’s tried.

Shocked that nobody behind the camera suggested he removes his glasses from his head. To me, it just destroys his image of professionalism. Tim is no doubt a knowledgeable pro in the watch industry, this was a poor decision on his part though.

Unfortunately the younger generation have no idea how ridiculous they look sometimes... like wearing ones baseball cap backwards!

My Local Rolex AD used to regularly sell Genuine green anniversary submariner bezels, not sure if Rolex knew, but apparently it was very common. So , I would say , most of the Blueberry GMT's are manufactured. Are some genuine? 'Maybe'. Bob's watches seems to think he can tell a genuine one. Personally I wouldn't buy one.

I have my 'feet first' Red label Submariner on now. Am I sure all the parts inside of it are genuine to the original watch ? If I am 100% honest, I would have to say 'no'. I 'think' the crown and face are original , but I still think Vintage Rolex is a minefield. Also who is the expert? There are so many in the business. John Mayor originallly tried to sue Bob Maron for selling him vintage Rolex watches with 'spare parts' in them, he eventually withdrew his lawsuit. So it must be virtually impossible to prove.

Normally I wouldn’t care but I have to agree with tech fighter here. I applaud and really enjoy Tim’s eccentricity but he’s wearing a shirt and suit, not jeans and a tee. His trademark glasses are forgivable but colour coordinating his time piece seems a little forced.

No I get your point but don’t you think you are both focusing on the wrong thing ? We all know and love Tim for his idiosyncrasies and I think a lot of people with really high levels of intelligence don’t follow the herd mentality of certain codes. I am just stunned that out of such a well done interview that this is your talking point. I admire Tim and appreciate what he does for us all. It seems a bit mean to be just insulting him and missing the incredible content. He is a horology expert not here to present fashion tips.

@@theonlyredspecial I agree, it's almost nonsensical to be talking about Tim's personal style. There was no intention of insulting him, just passing on my personal opinion, which I'm sure Tim will take with a pinch of salt. But on the other hand, I think there is a relationship between style, dress codes and time pieces. Tim frequently mentions how certain watches have no problem 'sliding under a shirt cuff' etc so he is aware of dress codes. Would Tim command less respect if he lost the shades and wore a dress watch for this interview? I don't think so. Quite the contrary in my opinion, especially amongst the relatively conservative watch community.

@Yeti Well I am hoping he takes it with a pinch of salt, because I am not entirely sure it has much relevance to this video or in fact anything to do with horology, the discussion of movements, or time pieces in general. I am fascinated however that some watching these videos seem to find it so offense and annoying - such as it 'hurting my eyes'. I think that's a first world problem which sounds so utterly inane its difficult to even argue it. I think a little re-evaluation is in order if that is truly the case. That said, I do understand what you guys are saying but I think Tim is confident in his own eccentric 'style' (or lack of) and doesn't feel the need to conform to a set of rules that people set up - there is a tremendous amount of snobbery involved in the watch world sadly and while some may try to ignore it, its still quite clear to be seen. I do agree with you that he wouldn't lose respect if he wore for instance an Armani suit and a nice white shirt and an IWC big pilot or Rolex Submariner for instance but personally I always find it slightly interesting to see what he is going to be wearing in specific videos. Should Tim have to conform and change to appease a certain audience? On a side note, I have lost count of how many times ive seen 'presenters' on youtube wearing flashy suits, fake tan, perma white teeth, designer glasses and a solid gold rolex clearly seen on the wrist for instance (or even two if the need fits). That's a statement for everyone to see. Its a particularly ironic statement when the presenter talking really has very limited knowledge of the topic at hand. So, Perhaps Tim just doesn't care. I think that's pretty cool and without doubt I am here for his knowledge - not how he looks, or what way he wears a pair of sports glasses on his forehead. I can accept people for who they are without trying to change them. So, Bravo Tim, I have lost count of how many times I have used his videos as a reference point for a potential new purchase or to learn more.
