Absolutely gorgeous! I was so lucky to see and hear Sir James and Lady Galway in concert in Morristown NJ shortly before the pandemic. Exquisite playing, of course, funny and helpful commentary, and such kindness toward their fans after the performance. I am a flutist, too, you see. Sir James, meeting you and Lady Galway is one of the highlights of my lifw.
I love this piece. My father was a professional Flautist, and played it. I played for years...and sometimes pull it back out and play. Galway is incredible! Sound, control, technique. Only Jean-Pierre Rampal was comparatively as good a player.
Amy Reuben I didn’t care that much for Rampal but that may have been the fault of the guy who wrote the liner notes. He raved about Rampal’s performance of some Telemann (sonatas?) but they were a plain reading with not even a hint of barque style. Frans Brüggen literally blew him away when it came to performance vs, reading all the notes correctly
My Lord is trembling with joy . The gentle souls of this audiences have already reached God. I pray that all of you have glory and blessing! Take care ❗
