Basic Warez this series you are doing is amazing! So great to see the creation process of these great artists! How love to see names like Roy Rosenfeld or Sebastien Leger, if they're up to it of course hahah
James, enjoyed the attention to detail whilst always remembering the feel, the sound, and sometimes the ‘simplest things, the right thing, volume’….always. Thanks, please keep the audio alchemy coming 👍🙏🎧🔈🔉🔊 🎵🎶🎵 💣💥🔥❤️🔥🙌
Theres a great patrice baumel one on youtube somewhere too where he also does a lot with a little, im always putting in way too many layers and it gets overwhelming
Cool dude...It was very interesting to observe his work...the approach... and the thinking that he voiced at the end was very close to me in spirit))) Thanks for the content!🔥🔥🔥
Hi Julian and James, thank you for doing this. I found it incredible how simple the concept of this track is, but the execution was nuanced and complex due to the sound design and automation. That in itself is a great tip for producers learning their craft - know your tools and practice minimalism. Something I am still trying to execute in my productions. James, not sure if you already do, but perhaps you should map a few more things to key commands - such as checking mono vs stereo in the control room, and show/hide automation. Also, I found mapping the various zoom functions to key commands hugely time saving. Zoom to whole track, zoom to part, expand existing track height etc. You also mentioned clipping and there is a school of thought about a mixing method called clip-to-zero where you mix into the clippers in such a way that you achieve target loudness right from the start of your production. I am still getting to grips with it, but wondered if you ever worked that way? Dash Glitch has a video on his channel using this method in cubase and the results are surprisingly superior to the normal way of mixing. At least to my ears, but these things are subjective of course. Thanks again both for the insight and hopefully I will be on here one day making a track for Julian. We can live in hope :)
Hey!i! So about clipping: yes I do this, but in a controlled way and much later in the process (pure mixing). It is essentially CTZ, adapted a little - and I tried it since the start of this year ... along with phase checks, this has helped get a few extra % in the mixing process. But my honest feeling is that the source sounds, the volume balance and the story telling that decide 90% of the quality. But that last 10% is super important also ...
Quick tip, instead of typing in the root note of the sample like you did in the pluck section, you can click on the upside down triangle with your mouse and drag it instead. I find this easier/faster than typing in a different root note
I am sure this guy had some tracks out early 2000's I can see his name in my mind's eye on a couple of white labels I have (from 3beat records etc) The name diaspora (sp) rings a bell Might be confusing him with someone else as can't check my records so off to do a google
feedback: mute the bass track at times, the redundancy is overbearing towards the end part of the loop. Only saying this because I have some high end studio headphones...
