Daryl morey is arguably one of the most brilliant gms in the history of the nba. He traded james harden for a bunch of picks in a relatively weak draft and an aging scorer in kevin martin. We all thought harden was going to be an ok starter (16-18 ppg) but morey knew he was going to be a star player (20-22 ppg), and he got a legitimate 25+ ppg scorer who gets to the freethrow line like crazy. You guys can bash harden for his defense all you want, but he is a ridiculous scorer on par with kevin durant and lebron james when you account for how he scores his points, efficiency, 3 pointers, and free throw attempts, along with how he creates shots.

everyone thought was going to be an ok starter with 16-18 ppg? he averaged 17 ppg as a player off the bench. everyone knew he was going to be a star player. hell, he even made team USA in London and that was before the trade happened.

I think because harden is the first offensive option in the team n the team has really good defense with Howard,asikJones,Beverly(when he's not injured) and garcia they have a pretty good defensive team.harden doesn't have to waste energy on defense just so he can be that much better on offense.

But old habits die hard. It was the same thing that used to kill Melo too. What you do in practice is what you do in the game and if Harden practices bad defense then he will perform with bad defense.

He seems lost and confused....I know he is a good player but the playoffs are a whole other animal. I don't think his play style really works for him right now. He assumes the ref's are going to bail him out when he gets over his head.....and the flopping has to stop. I wonder if he is going to get a warning or a fine. I'm a big James Harden fan. But, there's something I don't understand about him. He seems to have it all. He can score with the best of them, he's got handle, a great passer, good rebounder. Something seems to be missing, can't really put a finger on it.
