The book series focuses on the adventures of veterinary surgeon James Herriot, and are set in the Yorkshire Dales, in the fictional town of Darrowby, based on a combination of Thirsk, Richmond, Leyburn and Middleham.
In the books, Herriot works with fellow veterinary surgeons Siegfried and Tristan Farnon, based on real-life counterparts, Donald Sinclair and his brother Brian Sinclair respectively. Wight also used the name Helen Alderson for his wife, Joan Danbury.

Does the original audiobook end so abruptly? Seems incomplete.🤔

I just realized how well they kept to the books in the first few tv series. And you can see the faces in your mind wile listening. And Christopher Timothy’s voice is the only voice that could do it justice. Thanks.

Unlike the most recent one, of which I only managed to suffer a few episodes! Neither the characters nor the storylines bore any resemblance to what Herriot had written!

I have this book on my shelf, I watched the PBS series and this was one of the only forms of entertainment for my elderly father before he died. Geez I just remembered I got the tapes from Blockbuster. wow. Thanks for these hours of enjoyment.

He cleared his throat in a ( couldn’t understand) manner and…. No that is not how it ended. Swell of music makes it hard to hear but no at least a sentence is missing.

Last few sentences … Mr. Allen cleared his throat in a marked manner and I turned back to the job at hand. ‘Right,’ I said, placing my calipers against the beast’s neck. ‘Number thirty-eight, seven millimeters and circumcised,’ I called out to Helen. ‘Number thirty-eight, seven, C.’ ‘Number thirty-eight, seven, C’, my wife repeated as she bent over her book and began to write.

well, you’ve cut off the end also. must be a reason. although after posting the whole darn book except the last sentence to escapre it being erased altogether, doesn’t make any sense. it would be nice to know what the last sentence is. we’ve not all read this before. thanks very, very much though. loved the book and the terrific reading :) 🌷🌿🌼🌱🌷 🐶🐈🐄🐷🐴

Brits have many common expressions everyone says all the time. Americans have not one. Except nowadays too many say"like" in EVERY sentence every 3 words as if stupid.
