The weird thing abt this is that the twangy and gritty nature of Het’s voice mixed with the higher register and screaminess of Spencer… just kinda makes him sound like M. Shadows lol
I actually would say closer to The Rev, thinking specifically of some of those big rips all over the self-titled album like in Scream, Critical Acclaim etc.
its amazing how the AI gets fucked up on the screaming parts and reads it at a high pitch, causing it to spaz out and actually sound like a genuine fry scream 1:30
This is GENUINELY GREAT! I'm very pleasantly surprised, late 80s James is absolutely wild here. Brutal, man, I did not expect to love this that much haha
This is amazing. Imagine if James screamed like Spencer in the 80s and early 90s. Would be the most brutal voice ever. Would this work better a few semitones down?
I feel like to get an authentic feel for it it needs to have itself pitch shifted. I feel like it also carries too much of the characteristic quality of Spencers voice. I still think it's cool though
I think you should try this again but pitch it down either 1 or 2 semitones. This range would fit the EARLIEST stages of James's voice when it was a lot higher pitched, but in my opinion I'm only really hearing James in the lower notes here. Sounds fucking wild still, but I think pitching it down would fit more in the range that the AI trained his voice in (if that makes sense?)
A semitone down would mean he'd be singing completely off key lol. you'd have to go down a full octave which would sound even more unnatural. If you meant the whole song then it won't really even sound like the same song anymore. Usually adds artifacts when you do it to a full song too.
@@PomPomMeowMeow I definitely meant the whole song, and if you match the tempo to the pitch change ie slowing it slightly to compensate for the pitch down then you won't really get "artifacts" while also sounding "warmer". It would still sound like the same song, but I just think pitching down the song and then creating a new vocal track at the new pitch would sound way better (in my honest opinion)
Periphery 2 is their best album. Periphery 1 was great as well. Wish they still wrote catchy prog music. All they have now is just Bowww wow doddoly dod de doodoly dodely.
@@grahammehl1710 No, I like this better too. Don't really like Spencer in general. James doesn't have good control, so his timbre with Spencer's control is best of both worlds.
@@Immolator772 People have different tastes. I personally couldn't imagine Periphery with someone other than Spencer, but there's a lot of people who think his voice doesn't fit the band.
@@richardsinclair7661 yeah cuz Ronnie Radke's vocals fit so well, he sounds like he smoked 10 packs of cigs before making each recording, and people praise him like some God. Spencer is one of the greatest vocalists i've heard, in fact i wished he did more cleans.
You cant choose those kinds of community built models anymore on kits unfortunately. They only allow you to use ai generated voices. A nice alternative is called voicify ai, It has plenty of James models on their site
If you want to hear an actual singer that can produce a similar sound, go look up guys like Jorn Lande or maybe Russel Allen (They don't full on scream as hard though)
