James Hollis, Ph.D. is a Jungian analyst, author, and teacher in private practice in Washington, D.C.
He holds a doctorate in literature from Drew University and taught humanities and the philosophic traditions of cultures for 26 years before training as a Jungian analyst at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland.
Dr. Hollis is the co-founder and first director of training of the Philadelphia Jung Institute, and served for many years as Executive Director of the C.G. Jung Educational Center in Houston. In 2014, he relocated to D.C. to become the Executive Director of the Jung Society of Washington and is now a member of their Board of Directors.
He is also a senior training analyst for the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts and is Vice President Emeritus of the Philemon Foundation, a group of scholars, board members, and donors who share the mandate to prepare the unpublished works of C.G. Jung.
Dr. Hollis is the author of 17 books, and has joined us on 4 previous episodes: Episode 25 on his book, Why Good People Do Bad Things: Understanding Our Darker Selves, Episode 27 on The Eden Project: In Search of the Magical Other, Episode 32 on Living an Examined Life: Wisdom for the Second Half of the Journey, and Episode 65 on Living Between Worlds: Finding Personal Resilience in Changing Times.
