You need to have hard copies (paper) of the law that says that you don't have to give up your I.D. unless you have been lawfully arrested. These cops do NOT listen to you quoting the law. I've seen this on too many videos. But if you have a hard copy and show it to them OR show the law on your smartphone via the Internet, you have a better chance of convincing them. That AND showing it to a judge or jury makes you super credible. Tell the cops you showed them the law and that they are unlawfully detaining you or forcing you to show your I.D. The Supreme Court said a citizen can video/film on a public sidewalk or easement. SHOW THEM THE LAW(S) IN WRITING and save yourself a lot of grief guys and gals. Unless you love to be handcuffed and have cops digging in your pockets and taking your wallet and I.D. from you. That same law from the Supreme Court addresses being SUSPICIOUS and photographing/videoing in public. The Supreme Court says regarding videoing / photography in public (Google it): streets, sidewalks, and parks. ... When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and the police. www.aclu.org › know-your-rights › protesters-rights
