Sometimes you don't realize how talented an actor is until you see him/her in an interview. Then you realize that they're *nothing* like their character. I'm in awe of people with this kind of talent!
I think spike has the bigger sexy and is much funnier!! He is just modest, that's better that then a narcissist:-) Modest guys don't now how great they are :-)
WOW....its weird hearing Spike with his "Original" American accent....I'm a Brit and when I was young thought he was British-Cockney beyond a shadow of a doubt, so he played it well. Mt favourite of all the Buffy/Angel universe....:)....
He CAN do a lot of different accents. And after several Dresden Files books James narrates, he nails even female voices. All the characters have recognizable voices, accents, emotions. 50% of reasons I started watching BTVS.
james and david are the perfect example of how hollywood works. david has had so much mainstream success after angel because of his looks, and james is stuck doing only sci fi despite being the (way) better actor.
He probably turns down a lot of work because he won't do certain things. That's not a bad thing, but he's a genuinely good dude and scruples are considered professional suicide in Hollywood.

I and my wife met him at Dragoncon a few years back. James is a very humble and down to earth guy. He even answered a question about the funale of Angel for me.
Holy shit, I met James Marsters at San Jose Comic Con in 2015. I live in Modesto. I had a conversation with him for 10 minutes and never told him that I live in Modesto! He's a totally cool and easy going and down to earth guy too! But I wish that I could have at least told him I live in Modesto!
A lot of British people complain about his accent being obviously fake. Maybe it's just because I'm American, but for years I never suspected that he wasn't British. I've heard real British people who's accent sounds fake or weird to me more than James. For example Sharon Osbourne is a real Brit, but I always thought her accent sounded strange and overexaggerated. James fake accent sounded more real to me than Sharon's.
Katie Jewels My mums British and can pick out a bad accent from a mile away, but she didn't believe me when I found out he wasn't actually British. His accent is brilliant.
That really depends on which episodes you watch... in his firsg few episodes his accent wasn't great so I knew straight away he wasn't British. It significantly improves later on anc if some people started watching it in season 4 inwards I can sdd why they would think he was British.
What crappy music they brought him in on and they so have better clips of Spike in season 5 before Fool for Love hell, definately in Fool for Love . Craig doesn't know shit about the show, it's kinda annoying. They don't have to make you sexy James you just are. "I drove threw there"LMAO. aww James and his accents. Juilliard doesn't know anything if they kicked James out. Sorry if this was random I just typed as I watched mostly.
gah, he's gorgeous! And I'm so used to (and hot for) his English accent, that his real, American speech just feels... Off.. Like, fake... I know it's all in my head, but yeah :P
I think when say bleed over, they mean Fool for love on buffy, And the ep. Darla on Angel. they were aired the same day and have parts of the same history told from a diferent perspective on each episode
You're wrong about that. I've seen a couple of interviews actually where he talked about the time he went to Hollywood. He looked down on acting on film and thought he was above everyone else because he came from theater. He also didn't like that fact that he had to audition for Buffy, he thought he'd pretty much automatically get the role.
Love this guy! But Modesto is *not* northern California... California has a middle: it's called Central California. Funny how I never bumped into Spike... But then again, I never went out much at night. 😂
Am I the only one who barely sees the difference between his British and American accents? I mean I can detect British accents but both of his sound normal
