James has become a strange beast. A man deeply rooted in the straightforward unfrilly get-the-job-done-right British sensibility of the mid to late 20th Century who finds it increasingly normal to own a gin company based on parsnips and doesn't need a sit down when presented with a personalised fridge.
I’m 100% sure that James is one of those people at Christmas who spend 10 minutes unwrapping one gift so as to not tear the wrapping paper… then present you with said wrapping paper the very next year, wrapped neatly around your present.
@@ivanv754 Superb comment! I don’t think that many spouses would be happy to arrive home and see an orange fridge with the picture of some TV person across the front of it. My partner would probably threaten to paint it over breaking it.
as an american i can't believe bim thinks that's a "huge" fridge. normal american refrigerators can comfortably fit three brits or one icelandic strongman.

I cant even imagine the sheer joy in watching an Old man, peeling off the plastic from his new fridge. He's aged like fine wine and someone give Lucy a raise and a hug but not a cheese sandwich or was it the other one .
Oh man. There are so many feels in the video. And has inadvertantly become one of the top 5 videos Ever made from any show James or the trio has done. And the sum total could be explained to anyone that's it's 8 minutes of James satisfying some hitherto unacknowledged desire to remove all packing materials from a new present. And at the end, we're all strangely satisfied too. And it's not just any new present; but a fridge with a lifesize photo and covered in iconix like Cheese. And that inevitably, there will be a meme created of James getting bopped in the head by his own fridge door. And by saying his own door, we mean by a door that says Cheese, and has a picture of cheese on it. Classic.😊

A Lovely gift and even though we all know James could afford a hundred thousand of these fridges, he receives it with complete gratitude and genuinely chuffed. Love this channel. Hope Clarkson will make an appearance too at some point.

I honestly love that James May is so famous and popular these days that he can literally make 8 minute videos on him unwrapping a new fridge and still pull in views and be as beloved as he has always been. I mean this is a literal fridge unboxing! Name me another man that could pull of a video like this and not be slated in the comments?
I've just spent 8 minutes and 20 seconds of my life watching a bloke unwrap a fridge. That's not the worrying part. I enjoyed it, is what worries me. Brilliant Lucy! 😊 and what a cool gift.👏

The coolest fridges (see what I did there?) are for tiny Japanese apartments, where you have very little control of where the fridges can go. So, they have doors that can open in both directions simply by pulling from either the left or right side. Very clever hinge system.
