Thank you for not putting our department's name out there with the Pickard fire. As a captain in this department, my mindset is and always will be default aggressive and that's what I teach from day 1 firefighter. Perfect your craft. Semper Paratus

James thank you for watching and thank you for continuing to fulfill the mission of the fire service. Putting your departments name out there and blasting them does no one any good, but we can learn from it and it is a reality of what can happen when we make certain decisions. Keep up the fight.

I don't think that "zero line of duty deaths advancing a hose on the interior" is a good argument. Maybe in 2017, but it has happened (for example, Colerain Twp., Ohio, 2008) due to various circumstances.

God, I hate working around guys like this in the fire service.

Why? Because he’s passionate about being an aggressive firefighter? He’s saying what a lot of “firefighters” don’t want to hear. Be passionate about your work. Hone your craft. Be the firefighter you want to see showing up to your emergency.

@@jamesnisbet9204 Sick burn, bro. I'm sure I'm not the first person you've heard that from. You know why. Have a nice day.

Hey pal, your arrogance speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you are saying. “Always” apply water from the interior first, “never” apply water from the exterior first? Don’t take away firefighters abilities to be critical thinkers. Action oriented nozzlemen are tremendous assets, but action should follow critical thought. If we wanted robots in the service, I’m sure we could make that happen. Let’s train our members to be critical thinkers and empower them to make decisions regarding their jobs on the fire ground. Best water is quickest water. Blue stuff on orange stuff as quickly as possible regardless of the location makes things better for potential victims and firefighters operating on the fireground. Every fire is different. And then to criticize apparatus configurations of other agencies? I know that you are just offering your thoughts and opinions, but it was in poor taste. I like your passion for the profession, and I’m thankful for your thoughts and discussion. Let’s all get better as a result. Thank you.

James Nisbet It’s important we continue to have this kind of dialogue. It’s healthy for our profession. We all get better as a a result. You had the courage to get in front of our peers and a camera to voice your thoughts and opinions based on your experience. That is to be commended. Unfortunately, we can’t all agree 100% of the time. And that’s to be expected. But we can be respectful in our disagreements, and we can all get better together. I hope my post didn’t come across as too negative. It wasn’t meant to be. I happen to agree with the majority of what you said in this video. Thanks again James.

Couldn't agree more. How do you start your talk about increasing survivability profile for people inside then blatantly ignore the science of the last decade that quickly resetting the fire from the outside then making rapid entry increases survival for those inside and those about to be inside. "No firefighters died on first lines in 2016, this is unacceptable" is what I got from this guy.
