That Israel's response was not militarily guided, it was ideologically guided. What it has done has totally undermined its ability to be, in my opinion, misguidedly, trusted by some to be an arbiter of peace in the Middle East. Truthfully, people who believed peace could be had in the Middle East while Israel kept the Palestinian people oppressed by apartheid were wrong. Any group, oppressed for long enough, put through enough hardship, will eventually take action to rectify it. With the Palestinians under apartheid, Israel ensured that any illusion of peace was just that, an illusion.

Israel has defied UN resolutions on the rights of Palestinians since 1948 supported by the western world. The first 10 years more or less understandable because of the Shoah. After that no more. The trauma's of the 2nd world war affect the attitude of the Israeli's. The trauma's of the Naqbah and the continuing harrasment, belittling and theft and destruction of property of the Palestinians affect the attitude of the Palestinians. The Israeli's have lost the moral highground long ago by rejecting the 2 states solution, building of the wall and theft of Palestinian land embracing Eretz Israel.

The international community has allowed Israel to build settlements for + 75 years. This is just a logical conclusion of that. Bravo.

In 1993, Yasser Arafat, the PLO leader, and Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli PM, got together and agreed the two-state solution - the Oslo accords. Netanyahu unilaterally ripped that up.
