My MP (Mary Robinson, Con. Cheadle) failed to vote. I wrote to her immediately and told her how low her moral compass was set and what a despicable coward she was for not voting. It can mean one of two things: she supports Boris or she questions the committee's judgement. Either way, she should not be allowed to get anywhere near Parliament again.

I am a pretty easy going person and with a long career in the NHS have managed to get on with most people, which has been increasingly challenging over the last few years. Now here comes the ‘but’, as when I think about some of these Tories, I am so angry, disgusted and ashamed that this Government represents us as a country at home and internationally. He’s not my MP, I’m not a Tory voter and you could argue “he’s just doing his job” but it did reassure me a little bit that despite the failings of many others within the Tory party, some are prepared to listen and not side with them. The Smogg's defence of the indefensible. A fixed penalty is not an admission of guilt. Correct but it is an alternative to PROSECUTION. Johnson could have tested his innocence in court if he was so sure of it. "we conclude that Mr Johnson is unlikely to have been unaware" is a phrase plucked out of paragraph 83 with no context by Rees Mogg. Context :-Johnson asserts that he did not observe what was going on as he passed the entrance to the Press Office, on the way to his flat at 9.58 pm because his “mind was decisively elsewhere” and “my attention is often elsewhere when I am returning to the flat”. How could he not have observed a gathering of 25 -40 who had been drinking since 5PM that went on to the "early hours” Whether the report statement is a double negative or not is irrelevant to its conclusion which any reasonable person would come to. Johnson was assured that all rules were being followed and Rees Mogg received the same assurances:- Findings of report para. 181 "Johnson initially asserted that Guidance had been complied with when he had meant to say Rules, and rather than correcting what he now admits to have been an error, subsequently reiterated this assertion despite having been advised by his Principal Private Secretary not to make this claim. He was content to convey the impression that the events (plural) against which allegations had been made were in fact “non-events”, and, to paraphrase, that it was nonsense to suggest that the rule- makers at the heart of government were also rule-breakers." Appearance of bias ;- The committee comprises 4 Tories 2 Labour including the chair and 1 SNP MP's. Any perceived bias is firmly in the Tory camp by the very structure of the committee. The only one attacked by Smogg is the Labour Harriet Harmen for bias because of a tweet yet all members of the committee have criticised Johnson at one time or another and as the man is proven pathological liar it would be extremely difficult for anyone sitting on the committee or in Parliament not to be aware of this incontrovertible fact. Harmen informed the commons that she offered to stand down but was assured everything was OK. Now the Smogg wants to know who gave such an assurance According to the Smogg there is not a shred of evidence against Johnson yet according to the committee he • Deliberately mislead the Commons on numerous occasions • Deliberately mislead the Committee • Breached confidences • Impugning the Committee and thereby undermining the democratic process of the House • Being complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee. All of these findings are self evident and only the wilfully blind or ignorant could come to any other conclusion 118 Tories vote in support of the report 225 abstained . Aneurin Bevan proved right yet again. Nothing has changed since 1948.
