I miss these old Cinemaassacre rando videos. It just feels like we're hanging out with the guys.

The old quality, the dim lighting, the amateur filming. There's a lot of charm in these old vids.

Sometimes I envy James' house. He has a game room with thousands of games, and a video store in his house with thousands of movies.

The funny thing is this video was recorded in 2009... I was a freshman in high school and can still recall Cartoon Network showing classic Looney Tunes cartoons for an hour or two in the morning during the summer.

These cartoons are timeless 100%. I am a 90's kid and we had boomerang on tv I caught alot of these cartoons growing up.

I love the pride with which James shows off his 16mm films. He has the vibe of a boy showing off his new toys to his friends. It's adorable.

I missed the video so much. This is why I love James and Mike Mondays. Even when you guys go through your collections or even a DVD menu lol. It feels like You're hanging out with your mates and just chillin. I feel like I can grab a beer and just relax with you guys. Such a good friendship and such genuine people. Never change.

The thing about these clunkier formats is that it makes the watching of a movie or listening to a record more of an event, you are less likely to be distracted when you put some effort into it as well.

I don't care what anyone says, this is what Saturday morning is all about. It's so sad that there is no network that does this anymore. At least there are other mediums to watch these classics on rather than cable.

I wish adult cartoons today are more like cartoons from the 40s. No explicit sexual content, no exaggerated gore and stuffs, just subtle jokes that kids would appreciate but adults will appreciate more.

Im 35 and I loooove looney tunes and Popeye. I grew up watching them with my grandpa. He watched looney tunes and the original Scooby Doo cartoons til the day he died. That's going to happen to me too. Ill watch looney tunes til the day I die

Fun fact, the flickering on the screen is where we get the term "flick" from when referring to movies

16 mm, when exposed properly and projected properly, looks great. It can reach at least 2k equivalent resolution (Not a 1 to 1 comparison) and it often has a higher dynamic range. Digital cameras are recently catching up to having a similar dynamic range and only in the higher end cameras. (Basically the film is able to capture a wider range of light values). Then there is the grain vs digital noise comparison. Sure grain looks more pleasant to a lot of people because it feels more ‘authentic’ but it also doesn’t stay in one place relative to the screen like digital noise does. These features are impossible to see through a youtube video, and it helps to have well shot/printed/stored film. I recommend that if anyone gets the chance to see real film projection to check it out.

A family story I hold close is whenever I hear about me, as an infant who didnt really understand language, and my Great-Grandfather, who only spoke Korean, would watch Tom and Jarry and laugh and bond because we could watch them and not have to worry about a language barrier.

I was a kid in the mid 2000's and in Canada they usually had The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show on weekday evenings. I fell in love with those cartoons and always looked forward to them.

Growing up we had this ancient theatre from the 40s that was awesome. It was just one massive screen and in my entire life I never saw the seating filled, only the center seats were ever available with the sides(2/3s of the theatre) taped off. That's how big it was. Another cool feature was the concession area was just behind the seating so you could get up and fuck about in line getting snacks while still watching the film, sort of like at the drive-in but with sound. One big open concept movie theatre that was impossible to get lost in. They would even periodically flash little reminders to hit the snack bar on the screen during the film. Tickets were cheap too! Anyways, they used to always play cartoons before and after every matinee so when you were a kid it was the thing to arrive an hour early with your friends so you could screw around watching Daffy and Goofy, running amok in the world's largest living room and getting spun on soda and candy before settling down for the main event. Afterwards, the parents took their time socializing before wrangling us monsters into the car. You made a whole day of it! Such a special experience 😊!

In the 70s, I saw a lot of these old cartoons on weekdays after school. Saturday morning was the time for new cartoons, after school was the time for the vintage classics.

I remember watching this back in the day on cinemassacre , i was jealous then and still jealous now. My uncle had one of these and he would play it on birthday parties. Left a big impression. It was probably what made me become a cartoonist.

I imagine James and Mike have a lot of cool, old movies and shows on defunct formats that never made it to RU-vid. More content like this, please!

Wow, just seeing an old projector, it reminds me of the time that I worked as a projectionist for a movie theatre before we went digital. It was really fun building up movies, actually holding the movies in your hands was a great feeling. Just seeing that reel brought back lots of memories.

I truly love these film viewing videos you two do.

Now all of the old Disney cartoons that were show in theaters are stream-able on Disney+. My kids watch them all of the time, on repeat.

I used to watch Boomerang all the time early 2000.

You can see the passion for it radiate from you both ! And I for one enjoy these old Looney Tunes cartoons the most too.

Don’t know if it’s still there or not as it’s been awhile since I’ve been over at the website, but I remember this video was on RU-vid, on this channel if I recall correctly many years ago, but it was later removed. Not sure why that was, but at least it’s back now.

Watched a lot of these in the 80s and 90s as a kid. Always enjoyable. The editing and especially the sound fx were top notch for the era they were made. A lot of those sounds still used today 70 years later.
