13 years of the tories has taken us back 100 years.

I have never felt more ashamed to have kept my British citizenship after Brexit. I took German citizenship because I have lived in Germany for 25 years. Having worked for the German Government in 2015 during the Humanitarian Crisis ( note it was never referred to as an Immigration refugee Crisis) I specifically worked with unaccompanied Refugee children. I specifically remember an 8-year-old boy who had traveled from Afghanistan and had lost his family and parents on the way. When we received him in the asylum home he cried so hard and long that we thought he would never stop until I found a couple of sweets in my bag and offered them to him. He stopped crying and threw his arms around me so tightly it was as if he was clinging to a dingy to save his life. Wish Mr. Jenrick had experienced that moment.

It's not what's wrong with Jenrick, but what's wrong with the people who support these disgusting , mean spirted , people who believe in such an awful policy.

I just can't get over this story. The pointless, wanton, beyond comic book level of cruelty is just staggering.

I’m a big student of history. When I hear stories like this I’m reminded of the 1930’s when the UK, US etc thought that taking in Jews from Germany who were persecuted by the Nazis was “a little too much to ask”, an overreaction or “interfering in another country’s affairs”. It seems this three blind monkeys attitude is back in vogue & xenophobia is the new black. I really thought we were beyond this, how naive I was. Can we have an election now please so this hateful nonsense can die a death. We need to put this govt out of our misery.

Jenrick decided that a hostile environment, obstructing all but the most dangerous entry routes, placing unaccompanied minors into inadequate accommodation with insufficient supervision, the threat of deportation to Rwanda and failing to process claims for asylum wasn't unpleasant enough. This is not compassionate, this is state terrorism. 'Suffer little children, to come unto me' has been painted out.

As an artist i'd gladly go paint them a fresh mural. I cant deal with stuff like this going ahead. We cant let this keep happening. Please can we wake up and realise what we need to do already. Everyone knows the answer, we're all just too scared to speak it because if we do we'll end up in jail. We just need someone to be the spark. Something.

He (Jenrick) tried to argue later on that it's offically a court building and court buildings are meant to be sober and austere. So it's nice to know that if someone committed a crime against me that traumatised me, the court will be sober and austere and unwelcoming when I go to them to give evidence. :v (Edit: Jenrick's obviously making excuses of course to try and make himself look less bad)

It's easy to be horrifically evil when you literally don't care about the welfare of anybody but yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if when it came down to it he'd sacrifice his own wife and kids to save himself.

Please, someone, inform immigration Minister, Robert Jenrick that he is not welcome in my house. He must be one of the most appalling people I have ever come across. That is no way to treat stressed children. Where is the Minister for Education in this? They should be condemning this behaviour from the roof tops, pointing out the emotional harm done to children in the name of some political ideal.

They often ask how dehumanised the staff / guards where at the concentration camps where to oversee & execute the mass killings. With Jenrick we are seriously in the same ball park of dehumanisation. What a nasty , disgraceful way of carrying on, a kids mural of a few cartoon characters , words really struggle with this.

There was an interview recently on the BBC with a minister from Israel's government being asked about soldiers killing child civilians and his immediate response was to the effect of "They're all 17 and shooting at us so it's okay". This feels like it serves the same purpose. The murals remind you that they're not near grown adults but actually kids. You're not meant to think of the 10 year olds, they want you to think of them as "Fighting age young men" as the Tories like to say. It's a move designed to make you feel as little empathy as possible and it's completely blown up in his face.

What goes through the brain of someone who does that
