Every time James gets interrupted, I get a little bit more aggressive. How many trains of thought did we lose in this interview because of it? Let the man speak, he's all we're here for anyway 😭
I admire this man just for his utter lack of ANY fucks given for what anyone thinks of him. He knows himself, and is comfortable with himself. He is going to fucking well BE himself, and thats that :D Best part: Who he is, is AWESOME!
James Spader is what happens when an intelligent, thoughtful and interesting person gives no fucks. Donald Trump is what happens when a ridiculous ignorant toolbag gives no fucks.
Hebrew Hand Whenever he takes a break, he does these weird walks around the office. And you never know who he’s gonna zero in on for these really intense small-talks. You just hope it’s not you. And yet, you hope it is you too. It’s strange.
Following the theme, and mirroring the polarized opinions of the overall The Office fan population, he is both an extremely overrated blip in a post-Michael Scott era, and a severely underrated gem.
My goodness, the way he speaks and carries himself...I love him! I would love to sit down and just talk with him, he has the most incredibly calming air about him. I just love that he carries himself in real life in the same way as the characters he portrays.
Hi I've seen quite a handful of your comments on my fan page and I just wanna go out of my way to appreciate those people who’s comments and good wishes encourages me and I hope to bring you guys so much entertainment. Send a direct message to my private chat I got something for you. Stay safe 🌹❤️
The audience is laughing, but he's being serious. I've had a celebrity crush on this guy all my life and this cements it. What an intellectual and curious spirit!
I don't think he's weird at all. Enigmatic, talented, witty, intelligent, humble, funny, suave... yes, all that. But not weird. At worst, misunderstood.
He's nearly bald, he's not muscular or fit, even with that he's so fascinating and lovely with one of the most attractive voice i have ever heard, if he's weird than i also wanna be weird and everybody should be weird
+DioOmicida Oh absolutely. Excellent show. Like anything else it has a few low points but as a general statement it's terrific -- and primarily because of him. The rest of the cast is pretty good but he completely makes the show.
He's "strange" because he has such integrity and is so intelligent, but he's also obviously very gracious and kind, unlike most of society these days. There's so many actors that are fake and not down to earth at all, James Spader is the opposite of that. Maybe that has a lot to do with having such a strong female presence in his upbringing, and he has the best of a New England native's qualities.
Huge fan of Colbert, but an even bigger fan of spader and I really didn't like how James was saying such intelligent well thought out stuff and then Stephen kept interrupting to try to make it funny. Let the man talk!
***** well he pretends to be Lex Luthors son, but in actuality it really is Lex Luthor he just cloned himself & now hes having to grow up and hes semi-rapidly aging towards his adult self. Its odd to say the least but it makes sense (in comic book logic I mean).
It would be nice if Stephen would let someone finish their thought instead of playing "top this" with their comments. James Spader is fantastic! A truly great artist!
He has an unparalleled intensity... I dunno what it is but I want to see more of him. One of those strikingly UNDERRATED actors who owns the screen every time he's on it.
U nailed it. U can see its effortless with Spader and forced with Colbert. Colbert's incessant ill-timed interrupting doesn't throw Spader off his natural flow in the least
For years I loathed this guy because of his character from Pretty In Pink. (Steff) Watching his masterful, technical, intellectual portrayal of Robert California on The Office and how he affected those around him, whether scripted, or real, maybe a bit of both, made me a believer in this guy’s talent. He is a genius!
Spader's eccentricity is charming. His own eccentricity is well played and shines through in Reddington's character. Brilliant actor! Fantastic, well-written show!
Oui j'ai beaucoup aimé, cet homme a non seulement du talent mais aussi de la classe en tant qu'homme et cela se ressent en tout cas moi je le ressens ainsi
Had the honor and pleasure of meeting James during the filming of White Palace and he is one of the coolest, nicest and most down to earth guys on the planet. His voice is so awesome.
Im an aussie so perhaps not qualified to say this... but just going by the phenomenal floods of interest and respect shown here for this man (not to mention love & lust) might i suggest you guys get rid of the drongo you have now and perhaps go SPADER FOR PRESIDENT?
I absolutely love James Spader, always have. His characters are quite often extremely loved or extremely hated. The peculiarities of who he is makes his characters more "alive".
+cahill mcguire I think the comic book movie market is getting way too flooded, but I still went and saw Ultron. I think he could have been an amazing villain over 2 films. The writers just destroyed the villain so easily when he was built up as such a bad-ass and seemingly indestructible super villain.
+Beal Wyene It's not just a line he made up. Love James Spader but that saying has been around for a really long time. I think one of the French philosophers came up with it.
+tootz1950 Indeed James is an awesome actor and very cool guy. Well who ever came up with that quote is very wise and I am glad James mentioned it cause I think/believe a lot of people should be aware of it. It is quite a powerful statement and if they think about it, it might help put some sense into them so not to increase Fear causing all sorts of trouble. Peace to all.
Thanks to you all i call my fan i appreciate all the support and love you have been given to me all this years you all made me whom i am today i want to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind gesture towards me and am most grateful to have you as my fan...
I'm totally fascinated by James now that I'm watching Blacklist on SKY boxset. I am so WOWED out by his character Reddington. He puts such a charismatic spin on the role. That's the art of brilliant acting to exude a persona so that lines aren't just read. He maxes out every scene. Watch Blacklist if you haven't seen it yet. It's brilliant.
I don't actually know how much I love James Spader until I realize that if I met Brad Pit or Johnny Depp, or some other popular actor I would be nervous but still be able to remain calm and still have some dignity, but if I met Spader, I would still probably want to take another shower after already taking two showers just from anticipation, and trying to work up the nerve to even be in the same building as him.
As my father used to say to me,just because you've been bumped up to first chair in the orchestra, doesn't mean you can compose a symphony.-Raymond Reddington
+Diane Watters And BL wasn't mentioned once ;( I've seen all of it twice... And I miss the emotional closings, the Denny Cranes, the incredibly sophisticated dialogue .... The hilarity... OH GOD. I MISS IT.
why does such an intelligent and normally great interviewer like Colbert waste the chance to just let Spader run free? It's like being next to an idiot at a concert who insists upon singing with the band. And I must dispute that Spader is "weird". He doesn't feel weird to me. He feels intelligent and kind and curious. It's funny how people have largely grown so boxed-in and emotionally/mentally silent-ish that a James Spader comes along and gets a 'weird' tag. Perhaps we need a lot more weird in the world.
I had the hugest crush on him (JS) in the 80's, when I was a tween (11-12ish) and as I grew up, so did my feelings which dove, head first, right into LUST in the 90's. I had never seen a man with such beautiful and angelic yet still very masculine facial features....and there is something about the sound of his voice....okay sorry.....Soooo the next came the fantasy phase in which he starred in quite frequently. Hey, I couldn't help it ;) So as I've matured , things have settled down just slightly and it is safe to say that currently, I am entering the potential marriage phase...even though I am very single...just had to throw it out there JUST in case. (:)) Mr. Spader, thank you for so many amazing years of gracing us with your assistance in thinking outside of the dull and way too safe, box! Looking forward to admiring you and your work for many more years to come! XOX, Lorilee
+Lorilee, Haha this is great. I didn't go through all your phases (that's high level fantasy you got going!), but, man, I couldn't get enough of him in Sex, Lies and Video Tape. I rented it (video tape days literally...) just to watch his scenes over and over. I was (am) probably 6, 7 years older than you?

Colbert is usually a good interviewer but here it's like he wants to keep Spader off-balance because he's threatened by his equally suave, intellectual image or something.
Spader is charismatic, brilliant, and extremely articulate - but it takes him a while to get to the point. I think that Colbert kept interrupting so as to push the flow and maximize the content into the small amount of time they had for the interview.
Yes. When you have a star and talent of this magnitude and he’s answering you with “I’ve never really thought of it that way before now” you’re making yourself the object of attention and not the interviewee.
He has so much confidence and he totally accepted himself as a person, which result in (personal) satisfaction. I also like the fact that he does not follow the trend, people are tweeting everything nowadays and even he knows that ones he starts a twitter acount or insta, he will get a lot of followers. But he thinks before he does something. I really like him a lot. Keep it up James!
This is an example of why “knowing your audience” when you’re speaking is important. James was trying to talk seriously and Stephen kept making jokes. Would have loved to actually hear James get to speak his full sentence without being interrupted with a lame joke from Colbert.

I just re-watched _Avengers: Age of Ultron_ for the first time in years, and I *had* to look up Ultron’s voice, because I never had before, and *_*holy cow*_* I can’t believe I’ve seen this guy in so many things! His voice is so good, his acting is so good, and now from this video, I discover that I love his personality too! I too enjoyed being slightly odd and a little too weird for “normal people”, and I too am drawn to the macabre, the slightly disturbing, and the dark.
+Carlos Andrade James Spader could read a phone book and make it sound interesting. I could listen to him tell stories, or just like a stream of consciousness kind of thing, for daaaays.
Am I the only one who could listen to James Spader talk non-stop no matter what he was talking about? Whether he’s weird or not, I can’t get enough of him.
