James "Thunderbird" Davis (1938-1992) with "Instrumental #4" from "The George Mitchell Collection Vol. 5". Davis got his name from Guitar Slim. They got into a drinking bout & Davis ended up in the hospital. Guitar Slim gave him the name of "Thunderbird" for the wine Davis was drinking to tease him. Davis stopped drinking after that. Who R U talkin' 'bout? Thunderbird Davis was a great soul blues singer from Houma, Louisiana, think didn't play guitar in public?

Correct. This is another performer with the same name as opposed to the great blue singer who was associated with Eddie 'Guitar' Slim' Jones and who also recorded for Black Top in the 1990s.
