James Turrell, Skyspace, The Way of Color 

This is the building that turned me on to James Turrell. I love it!

I'd love to one day see a piece by James Turrell live!

This piece was the highlight of my art weekend in Bentonville. I had already been thinking about the Buddhist idea of the self and this arwork gave me a lesson as only great art can. BTW when I was there a little over a week ago the center also had stones.

The world has been going towards experiential art for awhile now... I mean in a sense original art in dance and theatre and ceremonies and events, all that is experiential. Now we have digitally remote experiential too. But I do think sitting in a movie theatre, standing before a painting on a wall,,, all of that is well and good, but when we can actually immerse ourselves in a context and get that connection, it's important. I think having art that is local and accessible to all is highly important as well, and light and the use of light is something readily available and highly therapeutic and inspiring.

Whoa! I definitely didn't catch this when I went to Crystal Bridges! It's been a while since I've seen a good oculus video. I love the way nature plays a role in this art. Dr. Harris' commentary was hella deep: perception does create reality - whatever that is. And I love a good etymology, so I appreciated Dr. Zucker's note on "ocular" and the eye of God... I'm excited to learn about more earthwork. ☺
