It's a reboot. The problem is that it doesn't fit the show that we watched. Other shows have been rebooted, and the demographics match it. This doesn't. Examples are The Conners, Wonder Years, etc. This shouldn't be called Good Times
The viewership of Zeus Network and Netflix is widely different... With Netflix having a wider audience of diversity...This reboot shines a light on everything that is degenerate within our community. Its a worldwide exploitation of black pain, struggle and ignorance for profit.. So I understand the petition.. African Americans have to start gatekeeping our image and this petition is one way to do it..

The racist powers that be have always wanted to destroy Good Times because it was a very important show which focused on many important topics which we're still as black people going through today which is why the late great Ms. Esther Rolle always protected the legacy of it.
I think Good times was a product of it’s time. The way it began was genuinely a honest and funny look into the the life of a nuclear black family who happened to be extremely poor. It evolved into something farcical and stereotypical. The heart of that show left with Eric Monte and later on John Amos. The trailer for this new one is really bad. I refused to spend one moment of this life watching that shit unfold.

3:25 that’s not true at all. Tamar & James never acted like it was a lie…Chrisean’s fans did. LeTroy ran to social media not even an hour after the concert was over. James spoke hours later. Tamar spoke just a couple of days after them. James himself said he didn’t want to say anything. Taking the time to sit with the reality of an incident & think things through…doesn’t mean you’re “acting as if someone is lying”. They never denied it. Troy ran to social media emotionally. Tamar tried handling it rationally. No one would expect Beyonce to run to social media regarding that. NDA’s would be SEALED. That’s also the issue with giving your employees the “friend” position. No boundaries.

My issue with man on the street interviews of any kind is that it’s not a true representation of the group of people they’re attempting to interview. That wasn’t LeTroy’s place to run to social media regarding a situation that wasn’t his, and wasn’t even present for. He emotionally ran to social media without James’s consent. Not because he cared for James…but because his ego was upset that Chrisean (in his words) “messed up MY show”. LeTroy didn’t think about James, or Tamar in that moment. He thought about himself! Then had the nerve to be upset that Tamar cut ties with him. Again…running to social media would’ve NEVER flied in Beyonce’s camp!
Because boondocks didn’t have a previous show where they previously set a standard. Why have a reboot and not have the family move out the ghetto when that’s how good times ended???
The Boondocks was a philosophical look at the atrocities performed by and perpetuated against the Black community. It was a very smart show but used in a cartoon format. Also, the art style wasn’t as harsh as the Good Times reboot is. That show just looks gross
Look at My Wife & Kids, The Bernie Mac Show, Family Matters...even the Cosby Show...the sons were always portrayed as dumb...this concept isn't new. But it's also tired and over done
