Jimmy Kimmel couldn't even comprehend the significance of what Jaime said about what happened during the lashing scene. There was no spiritual, emotional or empathy response from him. Unfortunately, his (Kimmel) "funny" reaction is why many people were against this fictional and sometimes comedic account of slavery. I would venture to say if a film was a cartoon-ish portrayal of the Holocaust, and a scene in which a Jewish person was about to be tortured, would he have made a joke? No he would have not, because there's a sense of respect for their history and those lines would never be crossed. Black Americans have allowed others to mock our history.
I agree COMPLETELY! It's quite sad that we support the mockery, minimizing, and belittling of what NO ONE wishes to come to grips with. Slavery happened, it is REAL (not fictional), it was a part of our history; yet fewer and fewer people want to respect and remember......yes, REMEMBER. Generations young and old are desecrating us and the very framework that shaped our endurance! No more words...........
kanuri - I'm glad that they made a fictional movie about slavery where the black man kills all of his oppressors, frees his wife and rides off into the sunset. If it were based on actual events, the wife would've never been seen again, and the man would've been killed the first time he looked at one of them white dudes wrong. There's plenty of our history retold in films since I was little all the way until now, and I'm 40. If there's anyone who should've been mad about this movie, it should've been racist white people, cause they were made to look like a bunch of bumbling idiots in this movie. It was a hero movie during slavery that was for entertainment only. Unclinch your cheeks, pull the stick out, and loosen the fuck up!
Speaking as part Jewish I'd have to say NO. They would have done the same thing there is no comparing. I think comparing what some white people would and would not do is part of the issue. You have to realize that everyone is not going to agree, accept you, or who you are, but you can't let that stop you from moving forward and being you. I'm not surprised that the show host has that type of reaction. It's Hollywood. Though that's not an excuse; Hollywood is low so what do you expect?

Valerie Bell If you are saying that Jamie Foxx is anointed, the same Jamie Foxx that said, "Giving honor to our Lord and Savior, Barak Obama", then you don't know what the anointing is. Just because a person can sing does not mean he is anointed; saved or unsaved. The anointing is a supernatural empowerment that destroys yokes and brings about change that is impossible for us to do by ourselves.

You're doing what white people did when they claimed that Bible supported the enslavement and mistreatement of our ancestors, when in fact, God's word says the exact opposite. We have to understand that He created all humans, in His image and after His likeness, regardless of skin shade. You will not find a verse supporting your racist nonsense. American Blacks, as a collective group, have never enslaved anyone, lynched anyone, or oppressed anyone. You cannot compare someone's words to wicked activity that was actually carried out.

As a Jewish woc, we actually do make jokes about that pogrom. What many are not aware of is that the holocaust not only impacted the Jewish kehila. There were Africans, gypsies, etc that( too) were victims. What we have to stop doing is having this Jewish vs. Black thinking. The communities intersect.

I think the point that is missing is that "gifts come to us without repentance" but "the anointing makes the difference" with those of us (mankind) who are children of God and them (mankind) that live against the Will of God and do not proclaim Christ with their life. So with these gifts beyond (great skill).. (excellent ability) and (charismatic delivery) "the anointing sets an individual apart from the common talent" and Lucifer was in fact anointed as Chief Musician until his great Fall.

Some Caucasians don’t understand why the Gospel is so important to us blacks because of slavery. Jesus is a significant part of the African American community, don’t know about other races but especially us
He could've been at one point. see david vs. Saul...even though he was out of his place he was still anointed. David was basically already king. 1 Samuel 24: 6-15.
