When i used to skate, having a skinny and short board was the 'cool' thing. Supposedly it made doing flip tricks faster and easier to control. I would usually ride an 8, and would get so much shit about how it's a vert board and how they couldn't believe i rode anything this big. Now that's considered small lol. I liked it cause it was more to lend of big gaps and controlled better on rails.
@skait174

took me 20yrs to figure out that wheelbase means EVERYTHING. i'm 6'3 / size 15, and rode bigger boards cuz i'm bigger, but it didn't always workout. Turns out that even tho i'm tall, a 15in wb is still kinda long. Alotta companies have caught on tho, and are making bigger boards w/ shorter wbs.

@HOLES69
@HOLES69 Год назад
I’m 240 and 6’2 and if there’s any advice I can give you; it’s to go for a bigger board than you think you might want. I’ve skated everything from a 7.75 in the early 2000’s to the 9.0 I skate now. Every time I’ve increased board size I’ve loved it. It makes it harder to flip the board, but it’s easier to land and stay on it if it’s wider. You’d probably be set with an 8.5 or 8.75 deck and corresponding sized trucks. Your local skate shop should be able to sort you out with that stuff. Wheelbases generally increase with deck size so you’d probably be looking at a 14.38 or 14.5 inch wheelbase. Wheelbase can also vary a bit depending on the type of trucks you pick. Ben Degros does some great videos breaking all this stuff down here on RU-vid.
