that logo is the worst. it’s just a basic shape and somehow it’s the worst shape. Hell, I have a BFA in design from an internationally acclaimed institution, and I’ll I can come up with is “that’s the worst shape” 😅 Every time I see that logo I think “why do you people hate everybody and want us to be unhappy, and why do you hate your company even more??”
Exactly. It’s such a shame that kids won’t realise that a bitter 20 something who literally went nowhere in skating can only produce negativity and criticism on shit he can’t do.
@@coldworld5and also….GH would suck ass if he made fun of non pro’s or Am’s. Just random people. He’d be a dick…..but making fun of douche pros, or pros that shouldn’t be pro? It’s what we need. This is also someone who champions queer and female skateboarding, which is ALSO what we need. He’s great man.
I think there are skaters that have the talent but just lack the creativity to put down lines in a street part. Brandon Westgate said in an interview that when he goes out filming, his filmer (or coach?) is the one that’s guiding him, telling him what tricks to do and where to do them. Maybe that’s what Jaime needs?
I feel like this part was not impressive, but we need to understand that he's from Ireland , where there's no spot and it rains all the time , like 3-4 years ago that guy was skating in is garage! It's not the same as a L.a skater!
Yeah all these skater who grew up in America don't really get how different it can be outside of the US. Not to hate on everyone but it's kinda elitist, a lot of us do not have access to all these great skateparks or street spots, give him some time and I bet he will be cracked outside of just skating flatground.
@@DeNiruable Dude I grew up in coastal Massachusetts, a VERY wealthy area and there were only 2 or 3 skate parks within 35 minutes of me. The one close to me had 2 pre-fab 4 ft tall quarters that were narrow and had no transition, a crappy funbox with a rail, and 2 grind boxes. That's basically it. The ground was even rough at the skate park. There were 3 parks, but 1 got ripped up to literally build a parking lot in it's place. The indoor park 30 min away was 15$ for 3 hours and you would be waiting in line to hit a ramp. It wasn't until around when I graduated high school in 2012 where a couple plazas opened up about 45 min to 1 hour from me, before that I had NEVER seen a concrete bowl or halfpipe in my life aside from small, pre-fabricated ramps. And this is in a SUPER densely populated area of the US. Most people just do not have great parks near them
@@173jaSon371 before I moved closer to a bigger city I had to drive ~1h 30 mins with a car to get to skatepark with rough ground and around 3 pre fab obstacles and one abomination that was impossible to skate. Unlike America driving a car is illegal before the age of 18 so I couldn't even skate there unless I found someone who went with me and that was maybe 3-4 times in like maybe 5 years. Also smooth concrete as flooring is pretty rare here, it's mostly rough paving stone or old asphalt. I mean I still skated but there were extremely limited opportunities.
There were 4 or 5 clips in this where the skating and spot and filming came together really well and showcased Jamie's unique skating well. If he could film a part with a filmer / coach who could provide some more direction for him maybe he could make a compelling video part.
Well filming isn't the whole point here. I've seen filmer who were even worse. I mean look at that Indoor park from hopking. He mostly skated there and in his living room. So no big surprise. I really hope he crooks ledges and flip bs lip handrails. 🙏
@@derfmodei also watched it and yeah that was infinitely better. The dude’s got skills but 5 mins but there was only like 2 mins of usable footage in this 7 min part
the dude comes from a remote part of Ireland, nice ledges and rails simply do not exist there, all crusty spots. he mastered what others will never since all he had was small drops and flat ground
After watching this part, I now have a new appreciation for Mike Mo Capaldi. Mike Mo could probably do a lot of these bizarre flip tricks in a part but only had maybe one or two in a video part in a line leading up to something big.
@@emilyonkov2172 man invented the impossible late flip and it was even named after him. Prime mike mo's flip trick potential was really high. Same with Jimmy Carlin.
I Landed loads of them in the progressive, experimental, insane period of time known as the early 90s. From 91 to 93 skating got new tricks and got super technical. Flips in and out of ledge tricks. Late flips, shoves, front foot impossibles, Nollie backfoot impossibles, switch front foot imposibles, blah blah. But by 94 it settled down a bit, and there was a bit of a rejection of overly complicated skating. A lot of those tricks were dropped, almost seen as "last years tricks". For reference look at videos like New Deal, da deal is dead. Even just before that with New Deal 1281. Then look at a video from 94 or 95. Say, Eastern exposure, or Colour vid, or plan b second hand smoke. It became about power, style, going bigger but more simple. It was a bit annoying having a bag of tricks I had learnt now being "unfashionable". I loved impossibles and all its variation.
I dont expect Jamie to do crazy handrails but i think upping his manual and ledge game could lead to some great footage. And no need for a 7 min part if half of it is going to be filler.
Gotta respect doing those tech flips. Even if it’s a bit sketch it’s still cool to even attempt it. Show me other parts where guys do those. And if he’s not going Mach 10 bro it’s really hard to control a trick that tech at that speed. I think some critique was justified but some was too critical.
After Jamie sees this video he's going to spend as much time as he's spent learning flatground to work on ledge skating and come back as the best ledge skater
To me this is like Rodney Mullen’s Plan B Questionable part. A flat ground and technical wizard expanding into other terrain. It’s not a street skater’s approach to skating street. So it’s kinda goofy but impressive at the same time.
If Joa had been around 30 years ago, he would have been laughing at Rodney’s part for the very same reasons. How many Casper slides have you been doing? None!, because they are goofy as hell, like most of what Rodney did. But it was still impressive.
I mean, they both have incredible flatground tricks. But Rodney was the inventor, basically dude. And his parts are full of nbds on grinds, slides, manuals, flatground etc etc. So you comparing a guy that couldn't skate street for most of his learning time due he is from Ireland and could not skate out properly, with a god that invented most of our base tricks, basically
Is Jamie the guy who just did tricks on his board standing still in a crusty old garage that he couldn’t roll on? He learned all of his tricks standing still so that’s what he is the product of. Years of never experiencing the streets
and who really cares? that guy will destroy you in any kind of skateboarding competition. he has his unique way. why the hate for someone who just grew his skate skills on a square meter of flat? joa is overcritizising at this point. really jamie is a nice lad. nothing to complain about.
Wait til Griffindors Army catches wind of this video bruv! You can't hide forever you cheeky bastard. We're about to wallop you one on the gulliver mate!
Props to jamie, irish architecture is fucking horrendous and the weather is alright for 1 month a year. All my friends and i could skate in our area was a flatground empty carpark and a stone block bench outside a school, absolutely no spots/parks here. That bench at 6:02 is probably the best spot that town has so no wonder it's been skated into oblivion
See, this is why Milton Martinez will always be my favorite. The man literally does ollie, kickflips, and like, 180s, and that's it. But it's the context in which he does it, like 180 kickflip over a big ass rail into a switch hillbomb in traffic versus just 180 kickflip on flat. Or like, bombing a hill and then doing a mandatory ollie at 20 mph. Not the same as a flat ground ollie.
I liked Keith Hufnagel back in the day for the same reason. You'd never see the man do more than a few flip tricks in a part, but he started that New York King of Pop schtick where you just jump over street obstacles before it was even a style to copy. Also, smooooooookes.
Yupp this is why I love guys like Milton, Sheckler, Westgate, David Gonzalez, etc. Just absolute shredders. Sometimes I love watching rail skaters too like Giovanni Vianni, Jamie Foy, Romero, etc.
My man he does repeat grinds / slides, but you gotta realise this guy grew up learning only flat ground and wasn’t fully able to learn more street tricks involving ledges or rails until he moved to England. He’s pro for his flat ground not ledge or rail tricks
He had a paved driveway. He could have easily practiced smith, nosegrind, crook, or other grind variations. Also, ledges ARE flatground. You start the trick on flat and land back on flat. He didn't pop out of a bank into a tall ledge, they're 1 foot tall.
The filming killed this part more than the big brain flips......I feel like he needs to spend some time in San Diego with proper street skaters and get a decent filmer and he could make a banger of a part. Dude needs more rail tricks, big gaps etc to compete.
Good points, but too easy to appreciate Jamie. His basement clips go way back. I dont think he's seeking approval, hes just trying to make some content for all the fans that he only made after other people pushed his name out there.
Okay, I get some of these criticisms but I think the appeal of Jamie is his story of just being a kid who wants to skate who has a lot of potential as he finds his potential...
Let me get this straight! A guy roasts a skater for doing, in his opinion, nonsense stuff in a video part, while at the same time wearing a beanie inside his flat.
I kind of hate it and love it at the same time. I don’t think it’s wrong that he is pushing himself. I think it’s cool to see more footy of him, not just flatground shit. I agree with all of your critiques though. I think he’s gonna get better. He just needs to do his shit off bigger sets of stairs, and generally just skate faster go bigger and drop shorter parts with all killers no fillers.
@@programxxx we have free speech bro. He needs to skate bigger sets and go faster if he wants to push it to the next level. That’s just the truth. He doesn’t have to do that he does whatever the fuck he wants. But I can express my opinion too. This is a wonderful world homie.
he had some nice bangers in the par, but most of it was boring fillers.. the part would be much better, if he put something liek 2-3 minutes together instead of 7 minutes... less is more
I'm gonna be honest, I don't *hate* his trick selection because (at least in some capacity) it is a tad bit unique, even though it's very limited. However, it's really the filming, the music, the length, and the repetition that just makes this so comical. I'm not one to talk shit about parts much because a) who tf am I and b) I know I don't have the biggest bag of tricks either. But to your point, this does feel very much like a "RU-vid pro" part and it's just not the type of skating I personally find appealing/satisfying to watch. There's no grit or edge to anything. It just feels kinda sanitary.
I don’t particularly enjoy his skating or style but he’s sick. I’ve skated that diy bank to hip spot and yes that diy ramp is completely unnecessary really😂
they really are perfect, make you do a double take like “was that some kind of varial flip body varial or something?” and nope, just the trippiest possible frontside flip
I was roasting Joe in the same manner in his patreon comment section and for the award he canceled my subsricption. Never seen a dude who loves to dish it but can't take any off it. Goes right away to '' I have mental health issues '''
I‘m a little disappointed in the skate community right now because I thought skaters would support each other and don’t hate on others vids like that ! If u don’t like his skating just don’t give a fuck but trash talking about others is really uncool
I agree, he has his own style and appeals to a very specific section of skaters especially on social media, it just doesn’t translate well when he tries to put it into a conventional skate part.
