Angeline Mckew i wish they hadnt killed him off too .I remember reading a interview with the producer at the time though and they said they had no choice because jack ryder wanted to leave . Plus they also said the bond sonia and Jamie had it wouldnt of made sense for him to just leave without her.think the writers were planning for them to be married and their story to go on but then jack decided to leave so it went down another route .

I think I read somewhere that originally he wasn't going to be killed off? He was meant to be around until February 03 apparently. But the show changed producers and the new one decided to kill him.

PikachuKnows Everything yeah thats probably true as i say as the producer had said they wanted to leave the door open for him but the way they built up his storyline with sonia it made no sense for him to leave without her and at that point think natalie cassidy had not long signed a new contract.tbh even if the door had been left open for him to return don't think he would have even though there was a newspaper article at the time where he was apparently quoted saying he wasnt happy the character was killed off. Ps sorry for the essay lol

Bit of a tricky dilemma to deal with for the producers in fairness; like you said, it wouldn't have been realistic for him to leave without her, so this was the only way given the situation I guess. I can see why Jack wanted to leave though, Jamie's character never really progressed beyond drifting back and forth from Sonia and falling in and out of favour with Phil. He never really had a proper in-depth storyline or anything challenging to work with.

but if it helps her then nothing wrong with it, a lot of people do different things to help them grieve, you find a lot of people won't delete a person's number after they died as they feel it's too final type of thing

@milly0999 yeah good point. Especially Jamie was dead. Sonia also was wasting some of her credit in her phone in the process - by texting a dead man, lol 😄📱💷💳. Also Sonia was using an old Nokia mobile phone. I remember those phones where you could only make calls or text people or play games & that was it. Those were the days before smartphones/iPhones came onto the scene. Nowadays we can use social media, RU-vid, text, call, video-call, take photos, videos, etc on the modern smartphones we have today. How mobiles have changed since then.
